Kyle Busch is the most decorated driver in NASCAR. He has more than 200 wins across all three series. As Busch approaches the twilight of his career his son Brexton Busch prepares to take his legacy forward. Brexton started following his father’s footprints at a very tender age by participating in various age group tournaments.

Since his first race, Brexton has registered more than 60 victories. Fans often call Brexton Kyle’s “mini-me,” citing both his budding racing prowess and his striking resemblance to the NASCAR star. However, in a recent social media post Samantha Busch, Kyle’s wife, playfully dismissed the notion.

Kyle Busch was often spotted with his son Brexton Busch during practice and preparations. In the 2024 season, he has worked as Brexton’s crew chief. While Brexton’s racing prowess undeniably mirrors his father’s, his mother Samantha fuelled a major debate among fans about his facial resemblance. In an Instagram story, Samantha said that she doesn’t believe the notion of Brexton being Kyle’s carbon copy.

She posted a picture of her childhood along with Brexton’s and said, “Everyone thinks Brexton is spitting image of Kyle, I still think he looks like me.” Despite the debate about Brexton’s racing skills being over Samantha’s comments have surely fuelled a new debate. However, this debate can’t be settled by fans as both Kyle and Samantha wouldn’t like to lose it.

It’s worth noting that Samantha has been the driving force behind both Kyle Busch and Brexton. She often shares glimpses of their training and off-track moments. Despite being a businesswoman and a model Samantha had prioritised her son’s programs. She has been a proud mom while sharing and celebrating Brexton’s success and his learnings. Earlier, this year when Brexton won the Beginner Box Stock Division, Samantha proudly praised her son. In a social media post, she had said, “We are so proud of you, Brexton.”

Brexton had also acknowledged his parent’s efforts to build his racing career. In the victory speech he had said, “I would especially like to thank my mom and dad for teaching me so much by filming my races so I can rewatch them.” Apart from success Samantha also pushes his son when things don’t go well.  Recently, Brexton had his first hit in karts as he drove at Trackhouse Motorplex. However, things didn’t go as planned as Brexton finished last which left him in shock. Despite this poor result, Brexton said something to his mom which left Samantha proud.

Sharing her proud moment Samantha wrote on Instagram, “What I’m most proud of he woke up this morning and said Mom can I watch some film, and can we get out on the tracks with someone with experience so I can follow and learn. I know he felt discouraged the other day, happy to see it pushing him to work hard.”

Brexton Busch’s racing career is wholly managed and monitored by his father Kyle Busch. Being a two-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion and a racing legend Rowdy has made some plans for his son. He wants to prepare Brexton for Late Model Stock and Super Late Model racing in the next five years. Kyle wants his son to make his NASCAR Truck Series debut by the age of 16.

In a conversation with Jeff Gluck of The Athletics Busch had said, “He races in junior sprints and micros and Bandoleros and stuff like that now. When he turns 10, he can run Legend cars — so we’ll add that in next May. And then at 12, you’re allowed to run the CARS Tour Pro Late Models. So, he’ll probably get into some of that at 12.

“I want to keep him on the dirt and asphalt realm; I don’t feel like you should go one way or the other. I like what we’re doing right now: He gets in his Bandolero car, and he knows what he’s got to do on pavement; he gets into his dirt car and he knows what he’s got to do on dirt. So, I really like that. We’ll probably stick with some of that mixture. And then by 16, he’ll be ready for some Trucks.

Notably, Rowdy himself is the most successful driver across the NASCAR series. With 66 race victories in NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, Busch has the record of most victories. As he has previously expressed his willingness to drive in Truck series for one last time after his retirement fans might get a chance to see the father-son duo on the track. What do you think will we see Brexton Busch driving alongside his father in NASCAR?
