For the most part, Amy Earnhardt has had her hands full taking care of her two kids while Dale Earnhardt Jr. was busy with his NASCAR gigs. However, with the veteran not returning to his broadcasting duties this year, he got to spend more time at home, which is a rarity. Although this was a welcoming change with fun times, it looks like Amy has had to deal with a fair share of adult tantrums and antics—something that she’s not used to!
The third child at Amy Earnhardt’s house this year
Amy Earnhardt joined her husband’s Ask Jr. segment that aired on July 30, 2024. The first question that came her way was about the dynamic of Dale Jr.’s unusual schedule and what it’s like to have him around the house. To this, she replied, “I will say that I have enjoyed all the activities and fun things we’ve been doing. But there was a point where we were at the beach, and I thought somebody better come get this man because I’m not used to having him home so much, and I do like being alone.”

In his defense, Dale Jr. chimed in, stating that he did take a day or two off away from home. “Well, I mean, I would totally have took off for a day.” Amy Earnhardt certainly welcomed that change. “You did. You went to the racetrack a couple of weeks ago, and you know I was not mad about that.” This is just that one-off year where Jr. has had a break for so long. From next year onwards, he will be back in the booth, this time around with digital partner Amazon Prime Video.
Given that Dale Earnhardt Jr. still has half a year’s free time, he is looking to make the most of it by creating memories with his kids and family. “Yeah, so I’ve enjoyed it, and it’s been a fun year. We got a lot more year left, a lot more fun things planned, and trips we’re gonna take. This is, I don’t think we’ll have another year like this.”
The conversation gave ample insights into the friendly dynamic that Dale Jr and Amy share. However, like the fun couple they are, the pair wouldn’t mind sharing weird secrets about each other either, which is exactly what Amy did. And that too, in front of the whole NASCAR nation!

Don’t we all have that one thing that we absolutely hate about our partners, but still tolerate it? Well, Amy Earnhardt just took it a step further to call out her husband in front of the whole world.
In a hilarious segment, Amy she revealed, “It’s blowing your nose in the bath towel. He dries himself off and then honks his nose as loud as a goose into the towel. Here’s the thing about said towel. He will hang it back up. So if you don’t know if it’s your towel, or his towel because they all look the same,” she said, inducing a laughter from her co-hosts. But, Dale Jr was quick to share his side of the story—it was a habit he inherited from his dad!

“I do not know that Dad did it into a bath towel. I could just hear Dad on the other side of the house making noise and it honked. When I did that one day, I was like, ‘Yeah, I am never not doing this’,” the veteran said.
On a separate note, Amy also noted that despite loving ‘me time’, she wasn’t buying into the idea of him missing the Thanksgiving dinner to attend the Southern National Classic.
The Thanksgiving Classic at Southern National Motorsports Park is seen as an unofficial finale for the Late Model Stock Car competition. We have seen Dale Jr. hop into a late-model car event on a few occasions. Denny Hamlin, Josh Berry, and Mat McCall have all won the prestigious event. Therefore, the fans were curious whether Dale Jr. participated in this year’s Thanksgiving Classic. The answer to that query is a solid “no” from Jr.’s wife, Amy.

Even Junior highlighted that he wouldn’t prioritize a race or gig over Thanksgiving. “I don’t have a problem with that. I don’t want to miss Thanksgiving. I wish no one would race on holidays ever, no series. Like I’m not gonna be there. Unless my job, my broadcasting job might require it.”
Well, annoying habits aside, this year’s break has allowed Dale Jr. the leisure of spending time with his family. And he is going to enjoy it while it lasts!
