The race at Pocono earlier in the 2022 season was not really great for Joe Gibbs Racing drivers Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch. Now, months after what happened to them after the race, Denny Hamlin takes a dig at NASCAR with a comment over Dale Earnhardt Jr’s tweet. Fans soon lashed out at Hamlin and labeled him to be salty about the past.

Junior had initially mentioned, Wanna know what working hard to go fast looks like? It looks like 15 Bud decals stacked one on top of the other in front of the roof cam because it was a count or two less drag in the wind tunnel. The Eurys were hard workers.

To which Denny Hamlin replied, You can reduce 2 counts today with 1 piece of tape apparently.

Hamlin was obviously referring to the post-race inspection failure that happened to both him and his teammate Kyle Busch. Hamlin had initially won the race and Busch came in second place. However, later on, NASCAR announced that they would strip both cars of their positions and subsequently disqualified them from that race. The main reason was that the officials had noted that the team had cleverly attached a piece of tape to the front splitter of the car. Since that violated NASCAR’s rules, they stripped Hamlin of the win and the points associated with that win. Instead, they gave Chase Elliott the official win.

After witnessing Hamlin’s response hinting back at his Pocono incident, fans lashed out at him, calling him all sorts of things. One fan even stated that reasons like this are why he could never become a champion. While a few others called out his salty behavior and inability to move on from what happened months ago.
