Every athlete has some sort of idiosyncrasy that they believe will bring them luck. NASCAR star and reigning Cup Series champion Kyle Larson is definitely one of them. Apparently, the Asian-American driver races with a ladybug sticker on his car, generally located on his name sticker.

To be honest, the ladybug is actually a significant symbol. Ladybugs supposedly represent happiness and positivity; in other words, it is believed that they will bring a person luck. So, one really has to wonder whether that made a difference for the Hendrick Motorsports driver.

Obviously, the lion’s share of the credit goes to Larson’s superior driving skills and the Hendrick Motorsports team. However, it would not be too farfetched to think that there was a small element of luck that he enjoyed this year. This is because there have been occasions where leading drivers have fallen afoul of drivers who are lower in the pecking order.

Kyle Larson will be keen to defend his title in 2022

Now that the 2021 season is complete, many drivers will be looking ahead to the upcoming season. Next year will witness a lot of changes, namely the introduction of the Next Gen cars. Although many drivers have tested these cars in the past two years, seeing them in a race scenario could be different.

Additionally, the Cup Series grid will visit a new track, in the form of the LA Coliseum. There are also a few new drivers joining the grid, namely Xfinity graduates, Austin Cindric and Harrison Burton. In other words, Kyle Larson could have his work cut out for him. Considering that the likes of Chase Elliott and Denny Hamlin were threats last year, they could mount a sterner challenge in 2022. So the question now is, will Larson need his ladybird lucky charm next season?
