Denny Hamlin and Ross Chastain have been fighting ever since the two had a run-in at the start of the season. In Pocono, Hamlin had a chance to get payback, and he did it! Of course, he was having a great weekend and even won the race, which was eventually taken away from him. Naturally, the sweet taste of payback surely made him feel real good.
However, not everyone was happy.

“It was just Denny saying, ‘I’m gonna run you out of the racetrack, and if you wanna stay out there and wreck, be my guest. ‘But this is where we’re going.’ And then Ross stayed on the throttle, and kinda drove straight in the fence on the exit of [turn] 1.”
Kraft seems to imply that the #11 didn’t exactly head out to wreck the Watermelon Man. Instead, Denny just challenged him.

An interesting take, and that’s how the 23XI Racing co-owner drove. He merely pushed Ross out on the fence.
Did Hamlin have a better opportunity? Do you think the #11 was too nice? TJ Majors surely thinks so.

“Denny, why are you so nice? It’s as gracious as you could be. Like, ‘you’re just gonna lift or hit the wall’ I mean, that’s no nice of him, he could have wrecked him straight up.”
Majors then roasted Denny as he said, “So, it’s very nice. But them, he [Chastain] still finishes higher than you [Denny],”. And he called it the ‘Nicest payback’.
