NASCAR’s decision to fine Ricky Stenhouse Jr a whopping $75,000 has not been received by the racing community. After being involved in a physical altercation with Kyle Busch, Stenhouse Jr was expected to receive a fine. But to brandish a record-breaking fine for a driver who was expressing his discontent to a rival was certainly not the best way to react to the incident. Especially, after using the brawl as their own promotional content over social media.

Many experts and fellow drivers have shared their thoughts and opinions over NASCAR’s controversial penalty decision. But Daniel Suarez in particular was outspoken about it, he even questioned NASCAR’s intention of trying to curb the driver’s emotions.

Over the years, we have seen multiple drivers get into heated fights. Joey Logano vs Kyle Busch, Jeff Gordon vs Brad Keselowski, Clint Bowyer vs Ryan Newman; and the list goes on. While these fights were enjoyed by the fans on TV as a source of entertainment, they also allowed drivers to express themselves.

However, with the recent ruling of a hefty fine on Ricky Stenhouse Jr, Suarez believes that curbing driver’s actions to express their emotions won’t fare well for the sport in the long run. “They want to see who’s Daniel Suarez, who is Ricky Stenhouse? who is Chase Elliott? Who are all these people? Because in my mind, if we go this route, eventually every single driver is going to be acting exactly the same.” Suarez said in an interview ahead of his Coca-Cola 600 run.

What’s more interesting from Suarez’s comments is that drivers have had discussions with NASCAR about the demands from fans to see driver’s true personalities. “I just think that it is very important to show emotions and to show personalities. You know we have had several conversations with many people in NASCAR in all different levels, and the fans want to see personalities to see emotions.” The Trackhouse Racing driver added.

From Ricky Stenhouse Jr’s point of view, he is at peace with Kyle Busch after the brawl at North Wilkesboro Speedway. But the same cannot be said for Rowdy, who didn’t appreciate walking into an ambush set up by the JTG Racing driver and his crew.

The 2-time Cup Series champion is known by the name Rowdy for a reason. We have seen him get into trouble, throwing punches at opponents on the pit road. However, this time around, he found himself on the receiving end of the fight. For the time being, it seems like a peace deal has been brokered between the two drivers, thanks to his boss, Richard Childress.

Sharing his take on the fine brandished by NASCAR on Stenhouse Jr, Busch via NASCAR said, “It doesn’t matter whether I agree or not, NASCAR makes the penalties.” Further, clearing the air regarding a potential payback or return of the favor during the Coca-Cola 600 race, he added, “I don’t need a fight with Ricky Stenhouse Jr. I need a fight with the top three guys so I can start winning some race.”

This was the first time since Busch publicly spoke about his fight from last weekend. And it’s good to see him focus on the things that matter, rather than getting mixed up in drama. He currently sits in the 13th spot in the points standings and is just hovering above the drop zone. So, it’s fair to say, that a win or a streak of consistent results is imminent for the RCR star if he wants to make it to the playoffs.
