For the 2022 NASCAR Cup season, Kurt Busch will have a new face in his 23XI Racing pit box. To be precise, he will link up with crew chief Billy Scott. It is worth mentioning that the 2004 Cup Series champion has worked with Scott before. All this was back when they were in Stewart-Haas Racing in the #41 car in 2018.
Aside from that, the 44-year-old worked alongside Danica Patrick in 2016 and Daniel Suarez in 2019. In 2021, Scott worked as a crew chief for the RSS Racing with Reaume Brothers and Our Motorsports in the Xfinity Series. With Billy Scott coming in, it also means that Busch’s 2021 crew chief, Matt McCall, is off to Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing. McCall is expected to partner the incoming Brad Keselowski in the #6 car.

Prior to the upcoming season, Scott was the crew chief of the #23 Reaume Brothers car. However, he shared the role with Paul Clapprood, Danny Johnson, Matt Swiderski, Jonathan Stewart, Kenneth Roettger Jr. and Ronnie Osmer. This is because, the #23 car had multiple drivers.

They included, Jason White, Natalie Decker, Tyler Reddick, Blaine Perkins, Tanner Berry Hill and JJ Yeley. Other drivers on the roster were Andy Lally, Patrick Emerling and Ty and Austin Dillon. Now, Scott will be looking forward to reuniting with Kurt Busch in a new outfit.
When they last worked together, Billy Scott guided Kurt Busch to a win at Bristol and 7th in the championship. This time around, Busch will be hoping to improve on that standing and try to climb higher in the championship.
