Who is Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr’s wife Amy Earnhardt?

Amy Earnhardt, previously known as Amy Reimann, whose current net worth is $1.2 million, has made quite a name for herself as a talented American interior designer. Aside from that, the 41-year-old is also the better half of NASCAR’s very own Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Interestingly, even Darrell Waltrip, a fierce rival of Dale Earnhardt Sr back in the day, tipped his hat to Amy’s positive impact on Dale Jr’s life. In a 2014 interview with The Washington Post, he said, “I think he’s [Dale Earnhardt Jr] real content right now. It’s not just in his racing life but in his personal life. His girlfriend [Amy Reimann] has had a big influence on him and really brought him out of that little boy shell he lived in.”

Amy Earnhardt’s journey into the NASCAR world is quite a story. Back in 2008, this Texas gal landed a gig to work on Dale Earnhardt Jr’s home in Mooresville, North Carolina. At the time, she was still hitched to her now ex-husband Tommy Cook, an assistant football coach at the University of Kentucky. According to Savannah Now, NASCAR was a whole new world for Amy – she hadn’t caught a single race before meeting Dale Jr and the legendary Earnhardt name was just that, a name, with no backstory.

Back when their paths crossed, Amy was part of the Wakefield Beasley & Associates crew. A peek at her LinkedIn shows she joined the firm fresh out of the University of Kentucky, where she earned her stripes in Interior Design.

In 2010, she made a career leap to Micamy Design Studio, taking the reins as the director of their Charlotte Studio. The firm’s a big deal, dabbling in everything from swanky corporate offices to cozy homes, not to mention retail spaces and even medical offices.

Amy’s flair for design didn’t go unnoticed. She brought her touch to the small screen with a new show on DIY Network in 2018, and guess who joined her? Dale Earnhardt Jr himself. Although the sparks between them started flying in 2009, they kept their romance under wraps until they stepped out together at the 2011 NASCAR Awards, making their relationship official.

Road to Forever: Dale Earnhardt Jr’s marriage to Amy Reiman

Dale Earnhardt Jr chose a family trip to Germany in June 2015 as the perfect time to ask Amy to marry him. She joyfully said yes to becoming Dale Earnhardt Jr’s wife, and they shared their happiness with the world through social media snaps. ESPN revealed that Dale popped the question in an old Lutheran church, one his ancestors frequented three centuries ago.

The proposal caught Amy totally off guard, a romantic plot hatched by both Dale and his sister Kelley. Amy, taken aback by the whole thing, shared a heartfelt photo with Dale Jr, captioning it with words brimming with love and joy, that read, “I’m completely overwhelmed with love & joy. Happiest girl in the world! I love you so much @DaleJr.”

In an interview, Amy confessed she was utterly stunned. Instead of jumping for joy, she was so overwhelmed that she spent the next few hours just trying to steady her shaking hands, struggling to process the life-changing moment.

Fast forward to New Year’s Eve 2016, Amy and Dale Jr tied the knot, welcoming the new year as a married couple. Dale Jr couldn’t help but share every moment on Twitter and Instagram, from his pre-wedding haircut to his humorous struggles with tuxedo rentals. Their big day was a star-studded affair, with racing bigwigs like Kyle Busch and Danica Patrick in attendance, as USA Today noted. They chose the picturesque Childress Vineyards in North Carolina for their special day.

The wedding came at a poignant time in Dale Jr’s career. He had to sit out the latter half of the 2016 season due to concussion-like symptoms. But just a few weeks before the wedding, on December 8, Hendrick Motorsports announced his clearance to race again, marking a triumphant return to the tracks.

Do Dale Earnhardt Jr and Amy Earnhardt have any children?

Dale Earnhardt Jr and Amy Earnhardt’s family is a picture of joy with their two little girls. Their first daughter, Isla Rose, born on April 30, 2018, was a bundle of joy for the Earnhardt clan and their many fans. The couple often shares snapshots of their family life on social media, where followers have watched Isla Rose grow up before their eyes.

Their second daughter, Nicole, was born in October 2020. Amy chuckled, recalling how Isla initially wasn’t thrilled about her big sister role. “She [Isla] didn’t want to be a big sister,” Amy said. “It was not her idea.” But as time went by, the sisters found their rhythm. “So at first she really just ignored the whole thing. She didn’t pay attention to me being pregnant and didn’t want to answer questions about being a big sister.”

Interestingly, Dale Jr shared a heartwarming tidbit about Isla Rose’s reaction to his race. She still gets teary when Daddy doesn’t cross the finish line first. He recounted a recent incident when a technical snag in his car at Bristol Motor Speedway left Isla disappointed. “We had a little electrical issue that created a fire inside the car and the floorboard of the car. I was hoping it might go out, but it started to get a little bit painful,” he explained. “(Isla) was sad that we didn’t win the race. I understood what she was going through.”

He even reflected on his own childhood, admitting he used to shed tears when his dad, Dale Earnhardt Sr, had rough races. “As a little boy, I cried a few times when Dad had some bad runs,” Jr said during a visit to Studio 1A and the 3rd Hour of TODAY.

Dale Jr also mused about his daughters’ grasp of his racing legacy. “Well, I don’t think they know much about my career, but Isla is 5, she just started kindergarten. So, she now realizes that when I go get in the car and she’s watching the race, that I’m actually in the car out there on the track,” he said while discussing his new children’s book, Buster Gets Back on Track.

The Couple’s business ventures and Charity work

Since he hung up his NASCAR helmet, Dale Jr and Amy have been quite the entrepreneurial duo, with Amy playing a pivotal role in their business ventures. Whether it’s brand partnerships or launching new products, Amy is always in the mix, working side-by-side with Dale Jr. Their joint venture, High Rock Vodka, has made a splash in the liquor market.

Dale and Amy Earnhardt have teamed up to make a real difference with The Dale and Amy Earnhardt Fund at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. This fund, born from a partnership with Nationwide and The Dale Jr. Foundation, is all about lending a helping hand to brave little fighters and their families. They focus on pediatric injury rehab, research, and prevention, offering support to those dealing with brain and spinal cord injuries along with other physical challenges.

In 2017, to mark their nuptials, the Dale and Amy Earnhardt Activity Room was unveiled at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. The room stands as a testament to the generosity and support of the Earnhardts, the Dale Jr. Foundation, and Nationwide. Nestled on the Rehabilitation floor, this special spot offers a haven for patients to engage in group therapy, get crafty, or simply enjoy some precious moments with their loved ones.

Amy, in particular, is a big supporter of causes close to children’s hearts. The couple is committed to touching lives and making a positive ripple in their community. Amy is a huge advocate for healthy living, often sharing her workout routines, yummy yet healthy recipes, and wellness advice on social media. Her upbeat and encouraging presence inspires many to put their health and happiness front and center.

Navigating Life’s challenges – Surviving plane crash

Back in 2019, Amy and Dale Earnhardt Jr had a close shave with danger when they survived a plane crash. This hair-raising incident took place at the Elizabethton Municipal Airport. According to The Tennessean, an FAA statement detailed, “A Cessna Citation rolled off the end of Runway 24 and caught fire after landing at Elizabethton Municipal Airport in Tennessee at 3:40 p.m. today.”

Ralph Hicks, a lead investigator with the National Transportation Safety Board, shed more light in a press briefing. He explained, “The airplane basically bounced at least twice before coming down hard on the right main landing gear. The airplane continued down the runway off to the end through a fence, and it came to a stop on Highway 91.”

The Elizabethton Fire Department confirmed that both Amy, then 37, and Dale, 44, were whisked to the hospital as a precaution, thankfully without any major injuries. A reporter later updated that Dale was released from the hospital, stating, “He and his family are doing well.” NBC Sports, respecting his role as an analyst, gave him a weekend off to spend with his family. However, in 2022, the couple shared that their daughter Isla was still feeling the effects of the 2019 crash.

In a candid conversation, coinciding with the launch of their new High Rock Vodka, they opened up about the ordeal. Amy Earnhardt, currently 41 (age), revealed, “It took me about a year before I could get on the plane and just not get super nervous, but our daughter was in the plane with us too, and I think she had some residual effects.” Amy, a devoted mother, described how they comfort Isla. “Isla gets scared taking off. We just hold her hand. But for a while, she would tremble and shake. It was before she was talking, so we really couldn’t talk through it with her. That was hard.”

But that plane crash wasn’t the only hurdle the Earnhardts faced together. They also navigated through Dale Jr’s concussion battles. He had his first concussion back in 2002 at Fontana, continuing to race despite feeling off. Later that year, he disclosed his concussion.

2012 was particularly rough for him, with two concussions within six weeks – one at Kansas Speedway and another at Talladega Superspeedway. After the Talladega incident, knowing something was amiss, he saw a doctor and sat out two races in October.

Then, in 2016, concussions again sidelined Dale Jr. A crash at Michigan in June left him out of sorts, followed by struggles in subsequent races. Hendrick Motorsports, the team he raced for, announced just before the Loudon race that Dale Jr was experiencing concussion-like symptoms and would miss the race. In a heartfelt podcast, Dale Jr spoke about his struggles with vertigo and nausea while working with doctors. Throughout these challenges, the couple remained a united front, getting married and tackling every obstacle, including health issues, together.
