Austin Cindric’s family has a rich racing legacy. Cindric’s father Tim Cindric has been the president of Team Penske since 2006 and also serves as a strategist for Penske-owned IndyCar teams driven by Will Power and Josef Newgarden. His contributions have guided the team to three IndyCar championships so far, in the years 2014, 2017, and 2019. She has been instrumental in her son’s development as a racing driver, taking him to watch and participate in races across the country. Austin Cindric has always been notoriously private about his personal life. The driver is currently unmarried and single and has kept prior relationships away from the public eye. According to his social media platforms, Cindric enjoys spending time with his family and friends when he’s not behind the wheel of a racecar, and details about his romantic relationships are unknown.

What are Austin Cindric’s racing records?

Austin Cindric lets his racing do the talking, and his talent shines through in the many motorsport disciplines he has challenged himself in. The driver has competed in all three national series in NASCAR, starting with the Truck Series in 2015. Driving the No. 19 Ford for Brad Keselowski Racing, Cindric finished in third place during the 2017 season, securing a victory at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park. The result remains his only Truck Series triumph in his career to date.

The Ohio native started his full-time career in the Xfinity Series in 2019, driving the No. 22 Ford for Team Penske. He secured back-to-back wins that season, finishing first at Watkins Glen International and Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. The following season was a true game-changer for Austin Cindric, who became the Xfinity Series champion in 2020.

The driver won six races in 33 appearances, accumulating 4040 points on his way to the championship. Such was his dominance that he won three consecutive races in the middle of the season, twice at Kentucky Speedway and once at Texas Motor Speedway. After a gap of one race, Cindric secured back-to-back wins at Road America and Watkins Glen International as well.

In comparison, he narrowly fell short in his last Xfinity Series campaign. Cindric won the first race of the season at Daytona International Speedway and went on to triumph at Phoenix, Dover, Pocono, and Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Despite finishing just five points short of his championship-winning tally at 4035, Cindric lost out to Daniel Hemric for the title.

As things stand, Austin Cindric has spent two seasons as a full-time Cup Series driver, while his third campaign is currently underway. The Team Penske driver has secured two wins at NASCAR’s highest level. The first was at the 2022 Daytona 500, while the other was at the World Wide Technology Raceway in the 2024 season. Driving the No. 2 Ford Mustang, Cindric finished 12th in his first full-time season in the Cup Series, and 24th at the end of the 2023 season.

What does the 2024 Cup Series hold for Austin Cindric?

As things stand, Austin Cindric is eligible to make it to the playoffs after securing a win at the 2024 Enjoy Illinois 300 presented by TicketSmarter. He may have been lucky, as Ryan Blaney ran out of fuel in the final lap at World Wide Technology Raceway, but the nature of his victory didn’t dampen his spirits, as he went on to celebrate his second Cup Series win of his career.

Speaking after the race, the driver said, “It was like my first time all over again. It’s been so long. Even just standing up on the roof of my car, I about fell over in Victory Lane. Probably the two best cars at the end of that race both had an issue, and the third-place car wins the race. That’s the way I see it. I mean, it’s not like I went out there and I took the lead away but we were in position, and this is one of our best-executed races so far this year with probably our best speed.”

Cindric’s result at the World Wide Technology Raceway has assured him a spot in the postseason for the second time in three seasons. The Team Penske driver will hope that he can improve on his career-high 12th-place result from 2022, and make it to Championship 4. If he remains in the mix with just three other cars in contention, there is no reason why he cannot pull off one of the biggest upsets in NASCAR history by winning the Cup Series title. Consistency will be key for Cindric if he aims to finish deep into the playoffs, and with just two top-five finishes in the season so far, results will need to improve drastically from now until the end of the season.
