Kevin Harvick is set to bid adieu to full-time racing in NASCAR at the end of the 2023 season. The 2014 Cup Series champion is savoring every moment spent on tracks, while also being on the lookout for more victories. Recently, Denny Hamlin suggested a dream retirement scenario for the veteran of 23 Cup Series seasons while recalling the moment he got laughed at by Dale Earnhardt Jr when he talked about how he wanted his career to end.

Denny Hamlin recently talked about Kevin Harvick’s brilliance and his almost three-decade-long dedication to NASCAR. Moreover, the Joe Gibbs Racing driver finds it hard to believe that Harvick is still on top of his game at the age of 47.

In the recent edition of the Actions Detrimental podcast, Denny Hamlin reckoned that Kevin Harvick is still a “bada** at 47.” Harvick’s longevity in the sport has given Hamlin hope of getting to 60 wins by the end of his Cup Series career. Moreover, Hamlin also revealed how Dale Ernhardt Jr reacted when he expressed the desire to end his career with a race win.

The #11 Toyota driver stated,  “I’m sure Kevin is one of those guys who, that’s how he wants to go out. He wants to go out knowing he can win his final race. I told Dale Jr, ‘I wanna win my last race.’

“He said, ‘Haha Okay, you’re right.’ You know, because usually when it’s over, it’s over.”

The NASCAR veteran believes that Kevin Harvick has a great opportunity to finish his career with a win while pointing out how difficult it is to achieve the feat. Hamlin mentioned that Jeff Gordon is one of the rare drivers who have won a race during their “second-last or third-last” outing before retirement. Additionally, the 42-year-old also revealed the reason why Harvick has been so successful for a long time.

Though Kevin Harvick is set to retire at the end of this season, he must be proud of achieving immense success in the Cup Series. Denny Hamlin reckoned that a lot of credit behind Kevin Harvick’s long-time brilliance goes to his partnership with Rodney Childers, his crew chief. The NASCAR veteran said, “Ever since they were together. They’re just really really good and that combination doesn’t come around too often.”
