The popularity of any public figure, such as NASCAR legend Jimmie Johnson, can always obviously be measured these days by their social media metrics. But the impact someone has on an individual’s life cannot be measured just by scrolling through numeric data. Such impact, more often than not, is something very abstract and subjective, something that resonates with the individual, something more determined by feelings than by words.
In the case of the seven-time Cup Series champion, the impact he’s had on the NASCAR community was recently on display in words and in the feelings of those who came to get a glimpse of the man himself.

The super fan of Jimmie Johnson with a legendary tattoo
Earlier this year, Johnson released a coffee-table book. It’s a book full of immaculate pictures and—considering the recent happenings around the driver-owner of Petty GMS—a pretty apt title, “One More Lap: Jimmie Johnson and the #48.”
Recently, Johnson held a book-signing session in Concord, North Carolina, where his fans showed up in big numbers, some of whom shared the importance the NASCAR driver holds in their lives.

One of those fans was Amy Checca, accompanied by her daughter Amelia, and she had a special request for her hero.
“When I was on bedrest after I had my daughter, it was Jimmie’s rookie year,” Amy Checca said according to Forbes. “My father told me if I started following a driver, I would get back into NASCAR. I started following Jimmie. It’s been a great 21 years so far. I always said if I ever met him, I was going him to sign my arm to get a tattoo with the number of flags of the number of championships that he had.”
“I’ll go to a tattoo artist, and he will tattoo right over it.”

What is Jimmie Johnson’s recent book about?
Although it’s a coffee-table book, Jimmie Johnson’s new book is more than just a showpiece lying on your table with some cool photos. The book neatly covers, in photographs, the journey of the seven-timer from his childhood to where he is today, highlighting, of course, all his legendary achievements.

The book can be best summed up in the words of the publisher Rizzoli, “One More Lap is a photo-biography of legendary race car driver Jimmie Johnson, starting with his childhood years racing motorcycles and buggies and trucks and onto his NASCAR years where he achieved unparalleled fame and now on to his newest endeavor, IndyCar racing.”
