“Win on Sunday, sell on Monday.” If that’s NASCAR’s motto, winning drivers should get some added benefit apart from the pay and the glory, right? Usually, it’s the thrill of driving high-powered cars that can push the limits of what machinery can really do. It’s what NASCAR is about. Yet, there’s one NASCAR driver who wasn’t a fan of cars as much as fans expected her to be, and when Joe Rogan found out, his reaction was just like the fans.
Danica Patrick once admitted on Joe Rogan’s podcast that she wasn’t a car girl, and it left the podcast host utterly shocked.

Whether it’s conspiracy theories or unique takes, Danica Patrick had it all. At the time, revealed collecting cars just wasn’t her thing. According to her, this kind of hobby simply did not interest her at all. Of course, there were a few perks in racing, like getting freebies because of her contracts. Patrick admitted that she did not know much about cars, like their inner workings.
She told Joe Rogan a few years ago, “I’m not a car girl. Nope! Not a car girl, sorry to disappoint you. I know, and I’m not a car girl. I don’t even know how many cylinders are in things, I just drive them. Dunno, I think we have 8? Just lost so many fans. I don’t need to [know about cars]. Didn’t build it, didn’t have to go to school for engineering.”
All she knew was pushing the car to its limit when it came to racing, and it showed. She became one of the first women in NASCAR, going on to spread her influence in other motorsports like F1. However, when it came to collecting cars, it just wasn’t her thing. It might be a big surprise for some fans, especially since some legends like Dale Jr. have an entire field on their properties dedicated to old NASCAR cars. It baffled Joe Rogan and the viewers.
Thanks to her association with different manufacturers, she was often gifted cars for free. In 2017, her Stewart-Haas Racing team was powered by Ford, so she and the other SHR drivers were proud owners of Ford vehicles. Danica Patrick in particular, owned a Ford Expedition EL SUV.
Of course, other incredible cars come from the Ford line. The most iconic one has to be the Ford Mustang, but Patrick insisted that the muscle car was not her ideal vehicle. Sure, it would be fantastic to own such an iconic car, but she insisted that owning a Mustang was not very practical. Speaking to Rogan, Danica Patrick revealed an interesting piece of news. As it turns out, she and her fellow Ford drivers were not allowed to customize their respective road cars. Patrick also said that she did have a choice of what vehicle to own for personal use. Among them was a Ford Raptor, but she was not a big fan of trucks.

It doesn’t mean Patrick hasn’t indulged in purchasing a luxury car. She recounted to Rogan why she once sold a Lamborghini and replaced it with a Mercedes. “I just like my car to be good off the line. I bought a Lamborghini a long while back and it didn’t have a cup holder. I’m like “Well, this is stupid!” This is not practical. So then I bought the Mercedes. And then that had a couple cup holders. So it was good.”

At the same time, Patrick also spoke about the massive impact race car drivers have on the environment. Since each car guzzles gallons of fuel at every single race, needless to say a NASCAR driver’s fuel consumption is significantly higher than the average population. It’s what Patrick believes made her partly unpopular with environmentalists speaking about the difficulties of climate change.

At the time, Patrick expressed her support for environmentalists, but just a few years later, things look a bit different. A little over a year ago, Danica Patrick took to Instagram to voice her concern about how climate change was used to levy higher taxes.
At the time, Patrick believed the greater amount of taxes levied on the usage of fossil fuels was just a part of a myth used by the state to get people to pay more taxes. She posted an image on her story that said, “All lies told to justify more theft. “Climate change” is just the latest chapter of deceit.”
