“What He Put Out There Was Just Inaccurate” – 39-Year-Old Race Winner Calls Out Denny Hamlin As He Proudly Proved the JGR Driver Wrong

In a dynamic sport like NASCAR, fans have witnessed an array of memorable moments since time immemorial. Crashes that sent shivers down their spines, bitter rivalries turned into friendships, or a driver winning the Daytona 500, three days after the race; the fans have seen it all. However, it is extra special when a driver predicts his win days before the race. It sounds unreal, doesn’t it?

But Michael McDowell has made the unreal turn real. He had predicted his wins 12 days prior to Sunday’s race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. You heard it right; 12 days prior! And with his win, he proved Denny Hamlin wrong.

As the curtains to the post-race interview rolled, Kelly from crandallracer.com referred to the altercation that took place in the comment section of Denny Hamlin’s tweet. In one of the episodes of his podcast, the number 11 Joe Gibbs Racing driver looked very confident that Chase Elliott would easily score the 40 that was keeping him from entering the playoffs. With 4 races to go and Chase Elliott being extremely adept at road courses, this prediction was not far-fetched at all.

However, McDowell proved him wrong. McDowell told Kelly, “Yeah, so I’ll be honest, I don’t get on there a lot, and I typically don’t let things bother me much, and it’s not that it bothered me, but what he put out there was just inaccurate.”

He explained that it could have been an entirely different story had Chase won. However, he admitted that it was not possible for Elliott to win 40 points if winning was out of the picture.

He also stated that he never meant to belittle the Golden Boy of Hendrick Motorsports and that all he was looking at were solid facts. He clarified that although Chase Elliott is the best at road courses, what Hamlin said on Twitter was factually incorrect.

The 38-year-old Front Row Motorsports driver has never been short of confidence in the face of adversity. He told the reporters, “You all gonna think I’m crazy, which I am. I know that I’m borderline crazy. But I believed with all my heart that there’s going to be way more. There’s gonna be a day I’m gonna win races and win championships, I know it!”

This confidence was reflected in his comments on Denny Hamlin’s tweet from earlier where the latter had said, “Chase Elliott is going to make it! And he’s gonna make it on points.”

And McDowell commented, “I’ll take that bet @dennyhamlin Pull up total points scored on road courses with the NextGen car. I think we got a good shot at it”

When Denny responded to that by asking McDowell to prove him wrong, the champion said, “Planning on it!”

However, during the post-race interview, McDowell admitted that it was all in good humor. He revealed that he had even talked to Denny Hamlin about Chase Elliott out-qualifying him the day before and said to the reporters, “I’m like I better not say anything because he did beat me…”

McDowell had always believed in himself and his abilities. A man backed by the love of his family and humility, McDowell exclaimed, “When you’ve dedicated your entire life to something, to suck at it is not an option.” Such an inspiration, won’t you agree?
