Denny Hamlin, a name synonymous with controversies and fierce rivalries, never fails to garner the community’s attention. Being the winningest driver in NASCAR without a championship title to his name, Hamlin’s 51 career wins still fall short of the much-awaited championship title.
The Joe Gibbs Racing driver is 43 years old now, co-owns a racing team with a legendary NBA star, and has many more things, apart from rivalries on the ovals, on his plate. This gives rise to a concerning question: what would Denny Hamlin’s 2024 season look like? Will he fill the gap in his Cup Series fate?

Hamlin embarked into the realm of NASCAR in 2004 as an Xfinity Series driver for JGR. As the years passed, the #11 Toyota driver built quite a reputation for himself in the NASCAR community. With nearly two decades of being in NASCAR, Denny Hamlin ventured into several things. He co-owns the 23XI Racing Team with Michael Jordan and has his own “Actions Detrimental with Denny Hamlin” podcast, where he discusses matters not usually taken up by people, which has skyrocketed his podcast’s popularity.
Due to the non-monetary connection that Hamlin has with the sport, he has surrounded himself with endless controversies and criticisms. Take his $25000 scenario, for example, where the JGR driver outright refused to pay the $25000 fine imposed by NASCAR after he criticized the Gen-6 car.
Not only that, Denny Hamlin once slammed Joey Logano for raising a caution on lap 273 at the Martinsville Speedway, when Logano wrecked into rookie Ty Gibbs, causing a huge pileup. All this reflects how Hamlin never shies away from bashing fellow racers when their conduct doesn’t seem fitting to him.

Until then, his 2024 season was under a cliffhanger as JGR didn’t sign the contract extension with him. When badgered by questions about his 2024 plans, he couldn’t hold himself from saying and told, “See, that’s a play on words. That’s not nice. Why would you do that?” Then Hamlin pointed out his future security plan and said, “I have a race team. I always have options.”
“As a race car driver, you’re at the mercy of whoever will hire you. I will hire me,” Hamlin said, boasting an extra layer of independence. Regardless of his options for the 2024 season, he would be driving the #11 Toyota for JGR as the team has signed a multiyear contract extension with him.
