A tweet from RACER Magazine’s Kelly Crandall insinuating a crack among the ranks of Team Penske has everyone’s ears perked up. The tweet readPaul Wolfe was texting fellow Ford crew chief Rodney Childers during the race about advice and strategy. Wolfe said they have a pretty good relationship and try to help each other. “There are guys in the garage you can trust and guys you can’t.”

For context, Paul Wolfe is the crew chief for Joey Logano at Team Penske and Rodney Childers is the crew chief for Kevin Harvick at Stewart-Haas Racing. One team helping another, especially when they share the same manufacturer, does not fall foul of the regulations of NASCAR.

Therefore, it is unlikely that something much will come out of this. However, many people believe it is unsavory for a team not to be able to trust its members. Logano’s victory on Sunday in Phoenix is definitely soured in the eyes of fans by this new piece of information.
