NASCAR in 1979 and NASCAR in 2023 are surely two separate entities, and comparing the sport in these two separate time frames would be like comparing chalk to cheese. Moreover, only a handful of drivers on the present Cup Series grid were perhaps present to witness the development of the sport. However, Dale Earnhardt Jr doesn’t want contemporary fans to miss out on the good old days of NASCAR when legends like Dale Earnhardt, Donnie Allison, and Cale Yarborough dominated the tracks of NASCAR.
This was the purpose behind the incorporation of ‘Becoming Earnhardt’ in the Dale Jr Download podcast, but it seems that things might be going downhill, as Dale Jr exclaimed in the latest episode of the podcast.

The Cup Series in the 1970s was popularly known as the Winston Cup Series after being leased to R. J. Reynolds and being named after their premier brand, Winston. The name was synonymous with the sport until 2003 when the sport witnessed a downfall in its popularity.
Having said that, Dale Earnhardt Jr, donning the look of a historian in an attempt to chronicle the golden era of NASCAR and the illustrious career of his legendary father, ‘the Intimidator, introduced an eight-part podcast series titled ‘Becoming Earnhardt’. In this limited podcast series, Junior would try and unearth his father’s budding years and NASCAR in the 1979 season, which was a pivotal year for the Intimidator.
However, it seems that things might not be on the brighter side in Bojangles Studio, as Junior expressed the possible hurdles that might have cropped up in his effort to narrate his father’s legacy.
Speaking to his co-host Mike Davis, Junior stated, “Y’all have no idea, what kind of situation, what a pickle I have put Dirty Mo Media in with this Becoming Earnhardt Series that I have just forced upon everybody. It’s been a herculean effort to try and build these episodes in really no time at all.”

While the exact hurdles that the co-owner of JR Motorsports has experienced are yet to be known, Dale Earnhardt was surely elated when he announced the incorporation of the project in his podcast.

He had revealed on his Instagram profile, “Hey everybody, just hanging out at home and wanted to share something I’ve been working on…Becoming Earnhardt. The first season’s about the 1979 NASCAR year.”
“I cannot express how excited I am to get that out. So y’all can hear it. I hope you’re gonna enjoy it but it comes out next Wednesday, something I’ve been working on in the background. When I’m very proud of. I’ve got a great day.”
With already two episodes over, NASCAR enthusiasts and listeners have already experienced a slice and a sneak peek of the Earnhardt family. The unheard stories of the legendary driver are unfolded in a gradual process through the perspectives of family members and other veteran drivers, who provide their insights about how Dale Earnhardt slowly rose to prominence.
