Can Dale Jr.'s mentee bounce back after that devastating wreck, or is his confidence shattered for good?

Dale Jr.’s JR Motorsports is a team that knows no limits when it comes to series. The former NASCAR driver retired in 2017, only to start his own team and work on his content firm, Dirty Mo Media. Since then, there has been no turning back, as JR Motorsports has now become a force to be reckoned with that competes in multiple series. From NASCAR to even the CARS tour, Dale Jr. tries to get his cars into every race possible, and while sometimes it works, other times, life just happens.

When JR Motorsports brought Sammy Smith into the JRM car, they thought they would have a blast at the zMAX CARS tour race happening at North Wilkesboro Speedway. But a huge crash that took out multiple cars ended their run on that night. However, although the race took place on August 3, it was originally planned three months ago. After the disastrous race, the media spoke to Sammy Smith as he unraveled what exactly happened on Saturday night.

Smith was involved in the early pileup at North Wilkesboro as the race took an unfortunate turn. Many cars piled up and despite Smith’s attempts, he could not avoid wrecking his car. Although he was not in the initial crash, the aftermath got to him.

When Frontstretch met up with the JRM Camaro driver and said, “Sammy Smith was involved in an early pile-up on restart here at North Wilkesboro. What did you see from your windshield?” Explaining his experience during the incident, Smith said, “Nothing; it was pretty good, and that’s why I kind of expected it to go. Then, 50 feet from turn one, they kind of just stopped.”

Although Smith’s reflexes kicked in and he had almost avoided the crash, that was not what fate had planned. He explained, “I tried to stop and then I got hit from behind, so it really stinks that we can’t have a good run for Sundrop and Jr. These guys work really hard, so I feel bad for them.”

Smith told Frontstretch that he couldn’t see anything out of his windshield, which led him to stop. The crash took place 50 feet from the first turn and the smoke warned the drivers. However, that did not stop other drivers, who ended up wrecking Smith’s car. The interviewer asked if the car could be repaired to get back on the tracks but Smith shared the sad truth.

Smith answered, saying, “I mean, we’re not gonna win like this, so there’s no point in going back out.” The driver was asked if he would drive with the CARS tour again, and after saying he would like to, he made an exit. However, he was not the only driver in a JR Motorsports car, as Carson Kvapil was there too.

The Window World 125 for the zMAX CARS Tour Late Model Stock Car series was held nearly three months later than originally scheduled. To say that the race was eventful would be an understatement, as an early multi-car crash took out Smith on lap 8. On the other hand, his teammate Carson Kvapil finished 4th, so it was not completely a bad day for JR Motorsports.

Kvapil started third on the grid in his No. 8 Bass Pro Shops/Tracker Boats & ATVs Chevrolet. While racing on the damp track, Kvapil realized that the damage on the fenders through the race had made it difficult for him to drive.  He came into the pits for a chassis change and got his fuel up during the lap 50 caution, calling for 6th place.

Lap 121 also brought in a caution flag as there was oil on the track, but that went extremely well for Kvapil as he climbed his way to 4th, where he finished the race. Within the top 5 finishes were Treyten Lapcevich, Corey Heim, Mini Tyrrell, Carson Kvapil, and Brenden Queen.

The next race for the CARS Tour is set for Friday night at Ace Speedway in Altamahaw, N.C., and the action continues. Carson Kvapil will be racing at the event and there is a chance that he might take the win. That being said, do you think that next will be the day for JR Motorsport to bag yet another win in the world of racing?
