Shane van Gisbergen isn’t just any rookie; he’s a three-time Supercars champion. But his transition from supercars to stock cars won’t follow the typical script. Instead of diving straight into the deep end of the Cup Series pool, Trackhouse Racing has devised an accelerated development plan. Van Gisbergen will be racing across NASCAR’s three top national series, and rumor has it there might be some regional racing in late models, too. It’s all about getting him acclimated to the oval-track racing world, superspeedways, and the challenges he’s never faced in his career.

“What we’re looking at for 2024 is, you know, a number of Truck races out of trackhouse racing and a bunch of Xfinity, some trucks and some late model racing. And it’s with, obviously, you’re right.”

“It’s, you know, we’re not going to start an Xfinity team, or I’m going to start a truck team. But we have a lot of great partners that we work with inside the Chevrolet camp and just the other ones that we’ve got,” Marks stated during his interview.

Justin Marks further added, “So we have an opportunity to sort of curate a year of development for him where, you know, he can really learn the lifestyle, and he can learn oval track racing and late model racing and just sort of, you know, how to put something together. So, you know, if there’s an opportunity here for him to be a cut driver in 2025, we need to make sure that 2024 prepares him for that.”

Trackhouse Racing has hatched an ingenious plan to fast-track its development. Picture this: Van Gisbergen will be racing in an array of stock cars across NASCAR’s top national series, plus some regional racing in late models. It’s a high-speed crash course in oval racing, superspeedways, and 1.5-mile tracks!

Shane van Gisbergen is no stranger to a good challenge. He’s already tested his mettle in stock cars by running his first oval race in the Truck Series and finishing 19th at Indianapolis Raceway Park. Add to that an impressive tenth-place finish in the Cup Series at the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and you’ve got an average finish of 5.5 through two races. Talk about making an entrance!
