At the Martinsville Speedway, Chase Elliott won the race and secured his berth. However, he almost lost it, courtesy of some over-aggressive moves from Joey Logano.
While Elliott initially dismissed it as a racing incident, his team did not share the same view. Crew chief Alan Gustafson called Logano a ‘f***ing hack’ over the team radio and declared, “We’re going to wreck him here”.
Later on, in the press conference, Gustafson spoke about the matter.

He said, “I think it’s self-policing in my opinion. There’s a couple of guys who consistently do it, at least to us. You just get tired of getting raced that way. I was pretty upset about it, if that ultimately was a tire rub, it would have cut our tire and it was gonna get ugly.”
However, he insisted that such things happen in racing, but the story is different if the same person does it several times. Now, to make matters worse for Elliott, he will have to contend with Logano for the 2020 Cup Series title.

Joey Logano has had issues with other drivers apart from Chase Elliott
Admittedly, Chase Elliott is hardly the first driver to be mad at Joey Logano. The #22 Penske driver also earned the wrath of Kyle Busch and Martin Truex Jr in recent years. However, Logano continues to persist in his aggressive driving and unapologetic personality.

Gustafson was furious with Logano because the tire rub could have been costly for his driver. However, it was noteworthy that Elliott got into the back of Denny Hamlin and traded paint with Brad Keselowski early on.
Truthfully speaking, Joey Logano entered this race with nothing to lose, as he had already clinched a title spot. To achieve this, he won the Playoff race at the Kansas Speedway.

In light of Gustafson’s threat, Logano may have to keep looking over his shoulder, for Elliott might try to get revenge for the contact.
