The All-Star race at North Wilkesboro Speedway this weekend is certainly one of the most anticipated races of the year given the high stakes of the event and the prestige of the venue along with the comeback story. Speaking in a recent episode of his podcast show, Junior pointed out to the interesting thing he noticed at NWS. “There’s some kind of a barcode or something you can scan at the racetrack that’s selling tickets for the next event,” he revealed.
“They don’t know what the next even is, whether it’s an All-Star race or a 400-lap points race but they’re already giving you the opportunity to get in line for the tickets for the next event.”
As for people who are wondering what the future of NWS be, Junior claimed, “there’s a race.”
“They don’t know what it is. That’s good in my mind,” he said. “And the CARS Tour will likely be part of that conversation.”

The JR Motorsports owner further described Marcus Smith and SMI’s commitment to CARS Tour being tied to NWS as he claimed they’re “all about supporting what we’re trying to do.”
“He wants Wilkesboro to be our Daytona 500 and that’s what we’re sort of aiming for,” Junior added.
There was also an interesting thing he revealed about future CARS Tour races that will take place at NWS as he said the recent one and the one in August was a closed one, which won’t be the case next season.
“Next year when we have our race at North Wilkesboro, it will be open to anyone who wants to compete, that’ll be unique to what we’ve been doing at North Wilkesboro for the last two years,” he said. “Next year, we’re still gonna take care of our CARS Tour guys, there’s still gonna be some people locked into the race due to their participation in the CARS Tour but we’re gonna open it up.”
