The excitement of NASCAR season to begin has kept the fans hooked on all the news bombs dropping around. This year has brought in a lot of buzz around the top racers of the NASCAR community. One such news is of champion Jimmie Johnson since his move to Petty GMS Motorsports.

As announced in November 2022, after a short break seven-time Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson joined hands with Richard Petty‘s Petty GMS Motorsports. Since then there have been speculations about his car’s number. His signature number throughout his career has been No.48 but with this new partnership, it certainly would change. 

Recently, Petty GMS posted a cryptic tweet that has made the NASCAR world go crazy. In the tweet, a picture with a black background and the date 1.11.23 is mentioned in it with the tagline “Save the date”. Since the post, fans have been speculating what it could be about, including one post by RFK Racing. Petty GMS maintaining the thrill for the NASCAR world hasn’t revealed anything even with all the fan reactions to it.

The return of Jimmie Johnson to NASCAR

JJ is a massive star of the NASCAR world. He became the first and only driver in NASCAR history to win five consecutive Cup Series Championships (2006-2010). With those five and having won two more later he stands in the league of Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt. The man also has two Daytona 500 wins among his eighty-three career wins. He spent two decades with Hendrick Motorsports before leaving the Cup Series after the 2020 season. He later stepped away from a full-time racing schedule and returned in 2022 with exciting news for fans. Johnson announced his return as a part-time driver and part-owner at Petty GMS starting in 2023. The entire NASCAR world was delighted with the news of seeing their favorite back in action in the Cup Series starting with the Daytona 500, in 2023.
