There’s a reason why Kyle Busch is considered one of the best NASCAR Cup Series drivers of his generation. His hunger to succeed on the track never seems to fade away with time. To date, he remains the only driver to have won 60 races in each of NASCAR’s top three series. Naturally, he has set high standards for himself and his team, Kyle Busch Motorsports.

Having been the owner of his Truck Series team for more than a decade now, he has come a long way. While he tries his best to pass on his experience to his drivers, the 38-year-old has had his share of disappointments. And he hasn’t been happy with them lately.

The excellence of Kyle Busch is well-known in the NASCAR world. To date, he holds the record for most Truck Series wins with 63 races to his name. Considering how he isn’t a frequent racer in the Truck Series in the current times, he has definitely set the bar high for the years to follow. But at the same time, this sets a benchmark for the Kyle Busch Motorsports drivers.

Having said that, the performance of the KBM drivers hasn’t quite been up to the mark this year. Fast forward to 2023, the team had 98 wins to its name. After 14 starts for the team this year, the drivers have managed to add only a single win. What’s more frustrating is that there have been seven top-five finishes. Had even one of them gone all the way, the team would have reached the 100-win landmark.

Without a doubt, Busch has been upset with this failure. Speaking to the press ahead of the race at Pocono Raceway, he was asked about his emotions if the team manages to register its 100th win in Pennsylvania. To this, he said, “Yeah, it would certainly be nice. We have been talking about it for way too long.  That would be good.

“Again, just having too many opportunities slip away, for sure, over the last three years, and to not have gotten to 100 by now,” Rowdy continued his criticism with the hope of going back to winning ways at Pocono. He said, “Only winning one race last year, only winning one race this year… You know, it’s been pretty lackluster.

“So, it would be nice to come out here and have a good, strong run with our Zariz Transport Silverado and get back in victory circle.”

While Kyle Busch slammed his team for their poor performance, he had the details of where things went wrong for them. He said, “We won Vegas in dominating fashion earlier this year and all of us qualified 1-2-3. It was really, really good and gave us high optimism for the year, but since then it just hasn’t quite gone that way.”

He further explained the difficulties. Busch said, “Kansas was a struggle for us and we were just super off on balance. We did not have a very good feel there for what we needed from sim. So, for Pocono, I didn’t do any sim stuff for here.” He also added that for the race at Pocono, KBM is going to rely on past notes as far as balances are concerned.

Despite not achieving much success lately on the track, Rowdy remains hopeful of turning it around. He said, “We know we have to get better and there are some things that we are lacking on. I have tried to voice that, so hopefully we can remedy.” It would be interesting to see how the team fares in Pennsylvania, especially with Busch also set to participate.
