Though the Cup Series is officially NASCAR’s top-tier promotion with super competitive drivers and teams, the organization’s lower divisions of the feeder system indeed hold its value for bringing up young promising talents to the forefront after working their way into the top division. And talking about uplifting young drivers, Kyle Busch Motorsports and Truck Series have been a major source of skilled drivers.

And none embodies this better than Hendrick Motorsports sensation, William Byron who sprung from KBM’s Truck ventures before exploding in the Xfinity scene in 2017 by clinching the title. While the Kyle Busch-owned team’s speedways run has captivated the community, their total domination at Pocono has been the talk of the town for quite some time now.

Recently, the “Rowdy” himself revealed a lesser-known backstory of the iconic track that fueled his team to go on a glorious run.

Kyle Busch discloses his team’s “secret” that pushed them to go beyond the limits

While Kyle Busch‘s insane Cup run has amassed him a lot of fans, the 2-time Cup champ is also the proud owner of KBM that fields two trucks in Craftsman Truck Series along with ARCA events, picking up young talents and bringing them to the grand stage.

And HMS speedster, William Byron is a perfect example of this, Busch’s prodigy has been part of the team’s Truck campaign and it is here where Byron learned the fundamentals of the sport to be the 2nd ranked driver in the Cup roster with the most number of wins this season. With the Truck Series race at Pocono headed their way, “Rowdy” Busch recently revealed his team’s secret acing the race at the coveted track, winning 7 out of the last 8 races.

Speaking to Go TrackHopper, the Richard Childress Racing driver revealed the lesser-known tale that pushed the team to the absolute edge. Mentioning veteran and fellow Cup driver, Kevin Harvick‘s former enterprise, Kevin Harvick Incorporated, Busch said, I feel like Pocono has been a place where you know we really focused in the early days when we first when the series first started going there, you know we got our b*tt kicked by KHI(Kevin Harvick Incorporated) the first year really really bad so I was not too thrilled about that,”

Entering the Truck scene back in 2010, KBM received tough competition from Harvick’s team, prompting the “bad boy” to resort to drastic yet necessary changes. “So we put a lot of emphasis on getting better there and focusing on that place and ever since then we’ve been really really fast so a lot of great drivers have driven our stuff there and we also have great stuff there so its cool when we’re to go there and score those wins.”

2023 certainly has been an exceptional year for Busch. Despite a rather bleak 2022 season with just one win, this season so far has turned out great for the #8 driver with 3 wins, tying him with his KBM prodigy for the most number of wins this season.

While Busch’s shift from JGR and Toyota has been shocking to many avid fans, the switch certainly has worked out for Busch and his team as the results speak for themselves. With the team embracing its new partners at Chevrolet, the Truck Series race at Pocono will be the first time KBM will race their new Chevy Silverados with “Rowdy” Busch at the helm of the #51 car.

He said, “This will be our first time showing up with team Chevy so looking forward for our Silverados being fast out there and of course, me being behind the wheel of the Zariz Transport Silverado so hoping that we can get another win with me and for KBM,”
