Samantha recently shared her hair care regimen with her followers, a routine she’s been diligently following. This includes taking medications like Spironolactone, with her dermatologist suggesting she could increase the dosage to between 100mg and 150mg. She also talked about her experience with Minoxidil Finasteride, which she got specially compounded from a pharmacy. In addition, she mentioned using a non-steroidal topical called Tacrolimus before her red light therapy sessions.

Elaborating on what the issue was prior to taking new meds, Samantha said, “They [doctors] diagnosed me with a certain type of alopecia after doing the biopsy, like alopecia areata and had a certain pattern. So, then they wanted me to try a couple of things. I had the reactions from oral minoxidil and finasteride. And so we were looking into some hard core med that’s out now.”

During a recent three-month checkup, after she got rid of all the previous birth control medications and so on, she shared, “I have good news!! […]”. Further, after she saw her doctor, she happily noted, “Clumps of hair were not coming out. I have taken four showers now in a row, but it’s not the handful. So, I think we figured it out. Prior I was losing about a handful plus of hair a day. […] Finally, I am so excited to report that finally, finally, the shed has stopped.”

Samantha also opened up about growing more comfortable with her wigs, which have become a part of her journey towards self-confidence. She traced the onset of her severe hair loss to the stress caused by her husband Kyle Busch’s transition from Joe Gibbs Racing to Richard Childress Racing.

Despite normal blood test results for hormones, thyroid, and iron levels, she experienced substantial shedding and overall thinning. “It’s not breakage but coming out at the root. I’ve had multiple blood tests done- hormones, thyroid, and iron the common ones for hair loss checked out fine. My iron, vitamin D and creatinine levels were high but not to the point that they think it’s the cause for the sudden onset of shedding. It’s also not localized like a spot or at my part line but is an all-over thinning,” she shared, noting it was different from the hair loss she faced during IVF and miscarriages.

But Samantha’s outreach extends beyond sharing her challenges. She also recently spotlighted an initiative aimed at assisting couples struggling financially with IVF, demonstrating her commitment to supporting others in their journeys, just as she navigates her own.
