Surely, there are not many joys in the world greater than the joy of seeing your favorite NASCAR driver win a championship and celebrate it in the victory lane after a whole year’s worth of hard work and focus. But what is that feeling like for those involved directly? Well, Tony Stewart once described exactly that.
Reflecting on his 2011 Cup championship, the Stewart-Haas Racing driver opened up on the way everyone in his team was feeling IN the moment.

“It put me back to the first time we won with Stewart Haas Racing at Charlotte, the All-Star race, and watching grown men cry in the victory lane because it’s the first time they won a Cup race,” he said.
“I remember the feeling of what that felt like, and it was like that multiplied by a hundred when now those same guys that you got their very first win.”

For Tony Stewart, the 2011 NASCAR championship was more than a personal goal
Of course, winning a NASCAR Cup championship would count among any driver’s top achievements in their life. But for Tony Stewart, the one in 2011 meant a lot more than just a personal achievement.

He recalled the realization he had after looking at the faces of his team and crew members.

“The excitement on their faces, none of it was about me or what I had done,” Stewart said.

“It was about ‘we’ and what ‘we’ had accomplished together and the satisfaction of being a part of this with a big group of people and seeing them accomplish the goal that we set out for, to me was much bigger than the personal goal and accomplishment of winning it for myself.”
