Back in 2013, Ryan Blaney grabbed his first career Xfinity Series, formerly Nationwide Series, win. This triumph came at the Kentucky Speedway, and it was an absolutely dominant win. Though it is worth mentioning that the commentator accidentally jumped the gun when declaring the race results.

With two laps to go, commentator Marty Reid said, “Coming through Turn 4. Another first-time winner in the Nationwide Series at Kentucky, it’s Ryan Blaney. I’m sorry, I’m sorry, white flag, white flag”. Admittedly, he and his co-commentator did note that the #22 driver had built up a large enough lead.

They also confessed that they were highly impressed with the job that he has performed that season. During the restarts, Sam Hornish Jr established himself as a threat for the youngster. How has Ryan Blaney performed since then?
That Nationwide Series win was the first of seven career wins, the latest of which came in 2018 at Texas. In 2014, he graduated to the Cup Series with Team Penske on a limited basis. In 2015, he moved to Wood Brothers Racing, with pretty much the same deal of running a handful of races. However, in 2016, WBR handed him his full-time debut, and he was hugely impressive.
His first Cup Series win came in 2017, while driving for Wood Brothers Racing. A year later, the Team Penske organization roped him back into their squad and he took over the #12 car. Since then, he has racked up a grand total of six more Cup Series wins to add to his Wood Brothers Racing triumph. In terms of championship standing, his best-ever finish was 7th in 2019 and in 2021.
