Chase Briscoe has already been confirmed as the new driver for the Stewart-Haas Racing team. However, two weeks earlier, Tony Stewart decided to make Briscoe and his sponsors sweat a little before the big reveal.

Apparently, he tricked Briscoe into thinking they were going to pressure the sponsors, HighPoint, into signing a Cup deal. However, what they did not know was that it was already done.

He said, “Things may not always be as they appear. So you think you’re here to help. The reason you are here is because you are going to drive a Cup car next year. We wanted you guys to be here because you only get told you’re going to the big league one time.”

Chase Briscoe has a lot of expectations riding on his shoulders

With Clint Bowyer walking away at the end of the current season, Stewart-Haas Racing needed a successor. After a lot of speculation, Briscoe was deemed worthy to take over the #14 car. There were a number of candidates, but they ultimately settled for the Xfinity driver and gave him a promotion.

It also turns out that the driver was already well aware that he was in the running, long before the announcement. According to him, he spoke to Stewart, and they advised him to focus on the race and then they will talk. Briscoe acknowledged that winning races go in his favor in those kinds of situations.
