Dale Jr. and Amy's ad bloopers—proof that even NASCAR legends can have a laugh at themselves?

Sometimes, it is good to see that our heroes are just as ordinary and down-to-earth as the next person. Fans love to build this persona of their favorite celebrities where they are larger than life. For someone like Dale Earnhardt Jr, who is a 15-time Most Popular Driver award winner, this holds true. However, the former Hendrick Motorsports star loves to remind people time and again, that he is just an average Joe.

His wife Amy Earnhardt is also cut from the same cloth. There is no better example to prove this than their latest Instagram video promoting their High Rock vodka brand. This $400 million handcrafted alcoholic drink was co-founded by Dale and Amy, and it has been growing in popularity. Recently, Dale Jr and his wife recorded an advertisement to promote their High Rock brand, or they tried to.

Let it not be said that acting in front of a camera isn’t easy. As it turned out, their shooting required multiple takes because both Dale Jr and Amy kept messing up or laughing. At the start of the clip, Dale Jr acknowledged that it was going to be a long day for the two of them. Even the filming crew was not immune to the contagious but non-lethal disease known as the ‘giggles.’

How did the Dale Earnhardt Jr and Amy Earnhardt comedy skit play out?

Now, Dale Jr is no stranger to stories about his High Rock vodka brand. Co-founded with his wife Amy Earnhardt, the couple partnered with the Sugarlands Distilling Company. Earnhardt Jr simply followed in the footsteps of the celebrities who invested in their own brand of alcohol. A former NASCAR owner, Michael Waltrip, famously owns his ale in Bristol, Virginia. Even Richard Petty has a brand of whisky named after him.

Sensing a great business opportunity, Dale Jr. and his wife jumped into the vodka business. Unfortunately for them, being one of the most popular couples in NASCAR and owning a brand of alcohol meant they had to be a part of the ads and marketing campaigns. What unfolded left the couple, the crew, and the fans rolling on the floor due to laughter.

The former NASCAR driver admitted that they were going to have to ‘wing it’ and go off script. As the number of outtakes grew, Amy simply quipped that her husband was ‘losing his marbles.’ At one point, there was a slight Easter Egg involving Kyle Busch, as Dale Jr and Amy cried out, “Cheddar’s.” The Busch connection comes in because Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen is Busch’s primary sponsor.

Have an interesting take?

Finally, the two of them were able to successfully shoot the promotional advertisement. Dale Earnhardt Jr punctuated that with a cheer for the successful take. Of course, the finished product will likely be a little more serious, but it is great to see this more light-hearted side of them.

Currently, their vodka brand has been going from strength to strength. Recently, High Rock Vodka won the ‘Best Craft Vodka’ for the second year in a row, and it is clear that the bottles are flying off the shelves. Reportedly, the alcoholic beverage is made from corn and water from the Great Smoky Mountains. As for it’s manufacturing process, the vodka is made from distilling it seven times and triple filtered through sugar maple charcoal.

Even Ken Schrader admitted to liking the vodka, as he visited Virginia with his wife Ann. When they ran out of their favorite High Rock Vodka, all it took was a call to Dale Jr. would helped his friend Ken Schrader out.

Has the brand made any appearance in the NASCAR arena?

NASCAR is practically a gold mine for sponsors. After all, which brand would hesitate to advertise themselves on America’s fastest billboards? Back in June, High Rock Vodka announced that they would partner JR Motorsports star, Sam Mayer in the #1 Chevrolet. The brand not only became JR Motorsports’ official vodka brand but also made its presence on Mayer’s car on September 7th at Atlanta.

Admittedly, Mayer endured a rough day in the office on that day, but High Rock Vodka enjoyed plenty of exposure. As for how his 2024 Xfinity Series season played out, he ended the campaign in 9th place, picking up three wins. However for the 2025 campaign, Mayer is expected to jump ship to the Haas Factory Team in the #41 car. In essence, he will replace Cole Custer, who earns a promotion back to the Cup Series.

Meanwhile, Mayer’s vacant #1 seat will be taken over by rookie driver Carson Kvapil. The 21-year-old youngster is already familiar with JR Motorsports machinery, having driven the #88 car a few times. In all, he has made nine Xfinity Series starts, with three Top 5 and one Top 10 finish, and a best run of 2nd at Dover. Now, it remains to be seen how Mayer and Kvapil perform for their respective teams in 2025.
