Pocono Raceway is dubbed the Tricky Triangle, and for good reason. Of course, it’s a pretty scary track to race at and even drive in. And Bubba Wallace experienced one of the most extreme crashes at the track. In fact, the crash even caused the race to be red flagged. And, it scarred the driver of the #23 car.
Unfortunately, the life-threatening crash happened during the driver’s first full season in the Cup Series.

Bubba was driving pretty fast when the brakes on his #43 Richard Petty Motorsports Chevrolet failed 5 laps before the 160-lap long race ended. And it launched the driver into the barriers at turn one, completely wrecking the car.
Fortunately, Wallace walked away from the crash with barely a scratch. But that was only on the surface.
“The lap before, I was holding off Aric (Almirola) going into 1 and the pedal went to the floor so I went to the bottom. Your natural instinct is to just try and use up all the track when that happens. Went to the floor, pumped it up, get through the tunnel and through three here and then down into one, I started pumping it right past the start/finish line and it blew.

“I should have hooked a right into the fence, use that to slow me down but I’m used to turning left there so I turned left and there she went through the grass. Unfortunate, but definitely the hardest one. I’m okay. I will be sore, I will be limping but yeah I’m fine.”
In fact, Bubba calls this crash the “Hardest one of my career”.
Can Bubba Wallace Turn The Tables This Year At Pocono?
Surely, Bubba wants to turn the tables on the Tricky Triangle and best the track’s extreme turns. But, will he be able to?

Pocono hasn’t proven to be his best track over the years. With the driver struggling to finish in the top-20 until 2020. However, he turned the tables in 2021, in his second full season in 23XI Racing.
In fact, Wallace finished 14th in the first race at Pocono in 2021. And, an incredible 5th place finish in the second round at the Pennsylvania track.

But the more aerodynamic gen-7 cars of the Cup Series might provide for a different style of racing in the upcoming race at the Tricky Triangle. So, only time can tell how the 23XI Racing driver will do, stay tuned to find out after Sunday’s race.
