Before his final race at the Kansas Speedway as a full-time NASCAR driver, Clint Bowyer had expressed his intentions to have a memorable day at his home track. NASCAR made sure he got his wish even before the race began on Sunday.
As the drivers ran the pace lap just before the race kicked off, race officials asked Bowyer to move to the front of the field in honor of his final race at Kansas.
One of the side rails on the track also read, ‘Thank you, Clint!”. Then, as another wonderful touch by some of his fans, 12 of his supporters laid down on the grass around the track to form a human ’14’, the number of Bowyer’s Stewart-Haas Racing car.

Clint Bowyer gets emotional talking about the Kansas race
In the build-up to the race, Bowyer spoke about racing at his home track and doing well in front of home fans. “That’s what it’s all about. It’s going back in front of your hometown crowd.
“You want nothing more than that to make them proud. Those are all the people who watched me grow up racing,” Bowyer said.

Bowyer only recently announced his plans for life after this season and declared that he is all set to move to the FOX Sports commentary booth come 2021. He admitted that this was not always his plan and everything happened all of a sudden.
“I love being a part of this sport. That was so important for me. I didn’t want to just retire. If this opportunity with FOX didn’t come to the table, I was going to be in a car somewhere, somehow,” Bowyer said on the same.
“Was I looking for that ‘what’s next’ moment or opportunity? And that answer is absolutely, ‘Yes’,” he further said.

The No. 14 car will now be vacant as another variable is added to NASCAR’s 2020 Silly Season. NASCAR Xfinity Series star Chase Briscoe is the favorite to take the spot at Stewart-Haas Racing in the wake of Bowyer’s absence.
On Saturday, he bagged his ninth win this season and sealed his place in the championship race. Bowyer, on the other hand, has 3 more chances after the Kansas race to bag another win before retirement.
