In the 2022 NASCAR Cup season, one of the biggest points of contention has been the pit stops. To be more specific, many drivers have struggled to nail their pit stops and came away with loose wheels. However, pit lane trouble is not something that is a 2022 NASCAR season issue. In the history of the sport, there have been many times when drivers fell victim to a bungled pit stop. Back in 2011, Martin Truex Jr knew exactly what Bubba Wallace, Chase Elliott, and Kevin Harvick were going through.

During the NASCAR Cup race at the Richmond Raceway, he fell victim to a particularly brutal blunder. So, he could only look on lugubriously as his chances of a victory evaporated. At the time, he was reeling in the race leaders but after a pit stop, his wheel came off. That was when Truex Jr really blew his top off and went on an epic rant at his #56 team.

In the end, he could only muster a measly 27th place for Michael Waltrip Racing in his second season with the outfit. All of this was after incurring a penalty for the loose wheel. Meanwhile, Joe Gibbs Racing driver Kyle Busch went on to win the race ahead of Denny Hamlin and Kasey Kahne.

As far as the championship fight goes, Truex Jr finished 18th in the standings while Busch was 12th. The eventual champion was Tony Stewart who snatched five wins during that season. All five wins came during the Chase for the Championship stage in the title challenge.
