WATCH: Kyle Larson’s Crew Chief’s Indifferent Reaction After Haley’s Camp Calls Out “Chicken Sh*t” at LA Coliseum

The Busch Clash at the Coliseum was every bit as good as it promised. Somehow, for some reason, with all the reasons stacked up against the exhibition race and the event, it worked. A whole new set of audiences experienced NASCAR for the first time, as the drivers put on a good show and fulfilled their expectations. However, what they didn’t expect was the 2021 champion, Kyle Larson, losing his calm and wrecking another driver.

During the inaugural stock car race at the historically important stadium, the Hendrick driver shoved Justin Haley into the wall, absolutely wrecking his car’s front and ending his race.

As a result, Haley’s spotter, Brett Griffin was not only not pleased, but he also didn’t try to hide his displeasure with the Cup champion.

“That was chicken s**t,” he said. “Left front is all tore to pieces.”

However, Larson’s crew chief, Cliff Daniels, saw it the other way than how it really was. “He (Haley) hit you on the front and went into the inside wall. That’s why the front of his car is destroyed.”

The young driver who made his move from Xfinity Series wouldn’t have expected his first race at the biggest stage to end the way it did. Especially end for the reasons it did, and because of who it did.

In his post-race interview, a frustrated Haley spelled out his version of the incident. “The 24 got into the back of me and shoved me into Kyle, and then Kyle just came down and put me in danger,” he said.

“Not really impressed with the move. It’s hard to be a rookie and gain respect. The 18 just passed him cleanly and he didn’t turn down on Kyle (Busch). I don’t know. It’s kind of BS.”

It remains to be seen how Kyle Larson feels about this incident, which in the bigger picture, wasn’t entirely his fault. However, knowing how the Cup champion usually is, it’s fair to assume that he’d have already had a talk with the rookie, putting the wreck behind them both.
