The New Hampshire race in 2021 saw Kyle Busch hit the pace car in the most subtle way possible. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver hit the Toyota Camry pace car that was driven by Dale Earnhardt Jr. The NASCAR officials, however, opted against penalizing the Cup Series driver.

Kyle started Sunday’s race on pole after a brilliant Saturday qualification. The Foxwoods Resort Casino 301 saw Busch leading the first six laps until the rain started pouring. The rain prompted the first caution period of the Loudon race. Before the Joe Gibbs Racing driver returned to the pit road, he circled the track under the yellow flag and made contact with the pace car.

As seen in the video, the number 18 car of Joe Gibbs Racing hit the bumper of the pace car. The commentators stated on the incident, “Oh he’s got the window net now. Pushing the pace car. I don’t believe, I would do that.” The other commentator added, “Yeah, I wouldn’t either. It’s definitely going to draw the attention of NASCAR there.”

Before Kyle hit the pace car, he was leading the race only to skid and hit the sidewall. The crash led to significant damage and made him lose the lead. His teammates at JGR Martin Truex Jr and Denny Hamlin also suffered on the slippery track caused due to rain. Kyle retired from the race to classify in 37th place.

What’s happening with Kyle Busch lately?

The 2015 Cup Series Champion has been on the news lately. If you’re a NASCAR fan, you’d know that the JGR driver is not a fan of interviews. However, after his recent race at Talladega last week, he was up for an interview in the typical Kyle Busch fashion.

Busch’s primary sponsor M&M is set to leave the sport at the end of this year. This makes the situation even harder to speculate on his future in NASCAR.
