Sometimes, there are moments in NASCAR where drivers can pull off near-impossible feats. The 2011 Cup pre-season Budweiser Shootout at the Daytona International Speedway witnessed one such feat. Over here, Kyle Busch had just been tagged into a spin, courtesy of Mark Martin. He then spent the subsequent caution period in the pit lane fixing any potential damage.

The driver then managed to scramble back out on track just as the caution period was ending. Of course, he was nearly a lap down, so he had to go full throttle to try and catch up to the pack. Then, the pack crossed the line to restart the race and began to get up to racing speed. However, Busch had caught up by then and in front of thousands of stunned eyeballs, rocketed past everyone. The best part was that he almost snatched the race lead from Jeff Burton.

How did Kyle Busch manage this insane stunt?
Apparently, he managed to time his run to perfection and passed the entire grid while running full throttle. Since he was still trying to make up time, he was legally allowed to go at racing speed. So when the rest of the drivers had just begun to speed up, Busch was already on them and they were easy pickings.
The commentators dubbed it as ‘shades of Richard Petty’ and it was totally genius. Bear in mind that he had to overtake at least 14 cars and managed to blitz past all of them. The bad news for him was that when he reached the front, he did not have the benefit of the slipstream. Nevertheless, it was impressive that a car that was damaged very recently and hastily patched up was able to power through the pack. In the end, though, his ailing car came back to bite him and he dropped back down later to finish in 16th.
