Back in 2015, talk show host Jimmy Fallon helped hype up the 2015 NASCAR Cup Series finale. So, he invited the Championship 4 drivers to partake in a special race. Jeff Gordon, Kyle Busch, Martin Truex Jr, and Kevin Harvick were facing off before the season finale showdown. This race was actually a tag team race, where each driver had a co-driver and formed two teams.

Fallon teamed up with the legendary Jeff Gordon to drive one car. Meanwhile, Martin Truex Jr and Modern Family actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson would drive another car. Then, the quartet would face Kyle Busch and Roots member Tariq Trotter, as well as Kevin Harvick and Canadian pop star, Justin Bieber. Safe to say, Bieber actually got the most enthusiastic reception from the crowd.

The way this race worked was that it was going to be a relay race. Each car had to weave through an obstacle course to the end of the lane. Then the driver and passenger would swap seats and driver back to the start-finish line. As soon as the cars crossed the line, then their teammates’ car would race and do the swap at the end of the lane.

How did Kyle Busch, Jeff Gordon, Truex Jr and Kevin Harvick perform?

At the start, Gordon and Busch drove first, and were pretty even for a stretch. Gordon managed to pull ahead to the end of the lane before doing the swap. However, Busch and Tariq were able to pull off their swap quicker and pull away. Thus, Fallon and Gordon were not able to catch up at the finish line.

As a result, Harvick and Bieber got a head start on Truex Jr and Ferguson. During the swap, Harvick and Bieber were able to make a smooth transition. However, poor old Martin Truex Jr and Jesse Tyler Ferguson struggled. In fact, their car was also slow to start, so by the time they reached the first cones, Harvick and Bieber were halfway back to the line. In the end, the team of Kyle Busch, Tariq Trotter, Kevin Harvick, and Justin Bieber triumphed.
