Heading into the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs race at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the focus was on the younger of the Busch brothers. However, the older brother, Kurt Busch, grabbed all headlines with a fantastic final run to win his first race at their home track.

Just after Kurt earned the chequered flag, the two brothers had a nice moment on the track. As Kurt was approaching Victory Lane, Kyle came next to him and gave him a friendly bump, indicating his excitement towards his older brother’s win.

Kurt won his 32nd career NASCAR race, 16 years after he won his first and only NASCAR Cup Series title. It was also his first win in 46 attempts in the NASCAR Cup Series.

Obviously, any time you get a win, it’s pretty special. They’re very hard to come by as we can see. The 18 car is unable to get any. But it’s cool to have Kurt get one here in Las Vegas,” Kyle said.

I got lucked into mine actually, probably, in 2009, I believe it was. I was able to get that win early and knock that off my list. Felt like a really really big win at the time,” Kyle added. “We’ve won a ton of races since then and a lot of times since then. Fortunately now for Kurt, that’s a pretty big one,” he further said.

Kyle finished the race in 6th place after some issues in his car resulted in a rather lengthy pit-stop. He even made contact with Joey Logano early in Stage 2, which adds to the drama between the two.

Kurt earned the lead with just about 25 laps to go when a caution came out. A couple of more restarts followed in the final few laps as the race went into overtime. Kurt used all his experience to master the restarts and seal the win.
