WATCH: Joe Graf Jr. Destroys his Car in an Early Incident with Bacarella and Earnhardt at Daytona NASCAR Xfinity Race

During the NASCAR Xfinity race at the Daytona International Speedway, Joe Graf Jr endured a poor race. As it turned out, the 22-year old practically destroyed the right rear end of his #08 car.

As it turned out, he got involved in an early wreck in the first stage, with Jeffrey Earnhardt and Caesar Bacarella. The SS-Green Light Racing driver soon realized that the damage was too great and he was forced to retire.

So far, Joe Graf Jr lies 23rd in the 2020 Xfinity Series championship. He has recorded the highest finish of 13th at Bristol, Homestead, and Kentucky. Other than that, he has been up and down the order all season.

What happened to Joe Graf Jr in the NASCAR Xfinity race?

On the 7th lap, the 22-year old spun off on the main square and smashed into the wall. This was enough to bring out the first of many caution periods on that day. However, it was worth noting that even if he hasn’t crashed out, the marshals would have thrown the flag anyway.

This is because the routine caution would have helped all the teams monitor their tire wear. Sadly for Graf Jr, it was curtains for his race, as he ended up all the way down in 37th in the final regular-season race.

Meanwhile, at the head of the field, Justin Haley enjoyed his second win of the season. He was the big winner after both of his Kaulig Racing teammates collided from the lead. Truthfully, Haley had a lucky escape, especially since it was the last lap of the race, so if he had been caught up, it would have been disastrous.

Meanwhile, Gray Gaulding and Chase Briscoe also benefitted from the wreck to finish in the 2nd and 3rd respectively. On the other hand, championship leader, Austin Cindric, could only get as high as 8th place. This is bad news for him because it allowed Briscoe to edge even closer to him.
