Ever since his departure from NASCAR in 2018, Trevor Bayne has stayed out of action. However, Joe Gibbs changed things for the driver ahead of the 2022 season, as he got an opportunity to run a limited schedule in the Xfinity Series. And as fans who knew Bayne would expect, he came with a lot of promise and delivered. In fact, he finished top-10 in 5 of the 7 races he ran. He didn’t stop there, though.
Vegas was his fifth top-5 finish this year, and everything was going great for the veteran driver until something strange happened.

The driver briefly explained what happened to him to the reporters, “We were talking and at the end of my talking I started feeling out of breath, and I was like, ‘Parker, I’m going to get too close here and I’m going to pass out.’ When I got out of the car, my left ear was ringing. I knocked the crush panels out so I don’t know if I just got gassed. All I can say is I guess I was trying as hard as I could.”
What really happened to Trevor Bayne after the race?
It’s not so uncommon for athletes to have health complications in a high intensity event. Fortunately, the driver knew what caused him to faint.
After being cleared by the medical team, he explained, “The last 10 laps of that race, I knocked the crush panels out of the right side and probably didn’t drink enough the whole weekend out here. It’s so dry and you don’t realize when you’re not keeping up with hydration.”

We all know what they say about hydration is key. It seems like Bayne just didn’t get enough time to sit down and really rest up, as he was asked to give an interview right as soon as he got out of the car.
“I was coming out of the car, then Parker (Kligerman) came right over and I’m doing an interview. I talk a lot so the next thing you know I was out of breath and woke up on the ground. I’ve never passed out in my life. That was probably the weirdest experience that I’ve ever had.”
