The two-time NASCAR Cup champ Joey Logano knows his way around a racetrack. He made a splash in 2018 and 2022, carving his name into NASCAR history. But in 2019, he went a step further, breaking an entirely different kind of record. Teaming up with Hot Wheels, Joey Logano set a Guinness World Record for the World’s Longest Hot Wheels track. It was quite the feat, taking 1941 attempts to nail it.
The record also coincided with the launch of Logano’s brand-new 2018 Hot Wheels Ford Mustang, decked out in a custom Joey Logano Racing / Hot Wheels design. Quite the way to celebrate, don’t you think?

The game’s changed since we were kids, with Hot Wheels tracks now bending the limits of imagination. Logano’s garage, filled with an enviable collection of cars, became the stage for this epic feat. The track snaked past, under, and even inside these beauties, culminating in a show-stopping moment inside his Hot Wheels-themed Ford Mustang.
Logano was over the moon, and who wouldn’t be? It’s not every day you break a world record and bond with your kids in such a cool way. He reminisced about his childhood love for Hot Wheels, sharing how these tiny cars ignited his passion for racing. He even mentioned how his very first car was a Hot Wheels model, making this record all the more special.
“Talk about a childhood dream come true! I have so many memories playing with my Hot Wheels cars as a kid, and it’s fun to jump back in that space with my son who shares the same passion for his Hot Wheels as I did, (…) Hot Wheels basically founded my passion for racing – the first car I ever had was a Hot Wheels car – and now being here, setting this world record with my son and an amazing team of Hot Wheels fans is a great way to announce our new special edition Ford Mustang.”
However, the game wasn’t one’s run-of-the-mill track. It twisted and turned through Logano’s garage, showcasing cars like a DeLorean, a custom Rat Rod International, a 1933 Ford Hot Rod, and more. The track, which started in his expansive race shop, was powered by 122 boosters to keep the momentum going. Finally, the track dove into his 2018 Hot Wheels Ford Mustang – a fitting finish line, considering Logano’s own Mustang Hot Wheel is set to hit the shelves next summer. This endeavor, a year in the making and a week to set up was a family and friends affair, with NASCAR legends from the Petty family as witnesses.

Joey Logano’s record didn’t stay in the spotlight for long, as it was outdone the following year in 2020 by an Australian breakfast radio duo, Fitzy & Wippa. These guys didn’t just break the record; they smashed it, creating the longest Hot Wheels track ever at a whopping 751.13 meters -2,464 feet and 4 inches.
Michael “Wippa” Wipfli, half of the team from the well-known NOVA radio show he hosts with Ryan “Fitzy” Fitzgerald, spearheaded this massive Hot Wheels project. It all took shape in Sydney’s Oatley Park on August 4th. The idea sparked while Wippa was hanging out with his kids, Jack and Ted, who are huge Hot Wheels enthusiasts. They loved building tracks, and this got Wippa thinking big – really big.
He dove into some research and decided to go for gold by constructing a track that would dwarf the previous record. And talk about a team effort! The project attracted support from some big names, including cricket legend Shane Warne and Olympic champion Matt Shirvington.
