NASCAR fans were craving a rivalry for quite some time. This season, they got one, a real one in Denny Hamlin and Ross Chastain. But as is true with every rivalry, this one is costing those who aren’t involved in it at all.
In Pocono, it was Kevin Harvick who paid the big price for Hamlin’s revenge on Chastain.
This was something that Hendrick Motorsports driver Alex Bowman’s spotter, Kevin Hamlin (apt guy to comment considering the context), also acknowledged.

“That wreck was courtesy of Denny and the #1 still playing grab a**,” the spotter said after the #11 ran #1 into the wall and triggered a wreck.
This wasn’t also lost on Rick Carelli, the spotter for the #43, who said of the incident, “I told you what he was going to do. He ran him as high as he could until he hit the fence.”

NASCAR spotter doesn’t understand why Denny Hamlin is being so nice
In a recent episode of the Door Bumper Clear podcast, NASCAR spotters TJ Majors and Freddie Kraft questioned the way Denny Hamlin has been conducting himself on and off the track in this whole Ross Chastain rivalry episode.
Usually, drivers are called out when they’re being too harsh or getting out of control.
But the Joe Gibbs Racing driver was called out for being in control, showing manners, and being nice, too nice perhaps.

“Denny, why are you so nice? It’s as gracious as you could be. Like, ‘you’re just gonna lift or hit the wall’ I mean, that’s not nice of him, he could have wrecked him straight up,” the spotter said.
And despite Hamlin doing what he did, his arch enemy still finished above him in the race.
