In the first week of March, Polyphony Digital’s Gran Turismo 7, will hit the shelves. For the NASCAR fans, there is good news as a familiar track makes its return in the title. After its absence in Gran Turismo Sport in 2017, a fair number of people were disappointed. Now, the Daytona International Speedway is expected to be back in the latest instalment to the video game series.
The franchise first graced the shelves in 1997 with Gran Turismo: The Real Driving Simulator. More titles followed since then, across various platforms. Then, when Gran Turismo 5: Prologue dropped, the Daytona International Speedway made its grand debut. It featured the Oval layout and the Road Course layout, and has been a mainstay in subsequent games.

All of that changed when Gran Turismo Sport released in 2017, and Daytona was conspicuously absent. Now, with the release of Gran Turismo 7, the iconic NASCAR track will be back in the video game. Speaking of the game itself, it will release on March 4th, a couple of weeks after the 2022 Daytona 500.
The title is PlayStation’s response to Xbox’s massively successful Forza Horizon 5 and it’ll certainly get a boost from NASCAR fans.

When is the 2022 NASCAR Daytona 500?
As for the iconic NASCAR race itself, the race will commence on February 20th. This race takes place a couple of weeks after the Busch Clash at the LA Coliseum. It will also mark the official start of the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season. So, the game’s release cannot have come at a better time.
At the moment, most of the paddock are in the middle of testing the Next Gen cars before their grand debut. An interesting noted is that the video game will also feature the updated version of the Daytona International Speedway. To be precise, it will include the final sequence of chicanes just before the finish line. So, the track consists of a grand total of 14 corners, as opposed to the usual 12.
