Back in March 2023, Denny Hamlin dropped a teaser and even shared a sneak peek of an exciting project – a brand-new headquarters in Huntersville. With Toyota rolling out the spanking new 2024 NASCAR Camry XSE and 23XI Racing flaunting a fresh logo, the stage is set for the Racing team, co-owned by Denny Hamlin and Michael Jordan, to unveil their new home base.

The plan has been brewing since 2021, ever since Hamlin snapped up a 15-acre plot for a cool $3.7 million. Steve Lauletta, a team executive, spilled the beans to the Charlotte Business Journal. Now, with the construction in the home stretch, just dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s, the 23XI team couldn’t resist giving the world a bird’s-eye view of their new digs on their official Twitter page.

Steve Lauletta, earlier in January 2023, admitted he wasn’t sure about the final price tag of this venture. However, the Charlotte Business Journal had pegged it around a hefty $16 million. The blueprint for the race team’s headquarters has ballooned significantly, from the initial 60,000 square feet to a sprawling 100,000 square feet. Meanwhile, the 23Xi team’s workforce has grown to a robust 80 employees.

John Nichols of The Nichols Co., with a little help from Jeff Alexander, played a key role in securing this Huntersville site for Hamlin and Jordan. The 23XI Racing team recently shared an aerial snapshot of their new state-of-the-art garage, captioned, “New year, new home! 🤩Excited to share a peek at Airspeed, our state-of-the-art headquarters. More images to come as we continue to put on the final touches. Be sure to stay tuned for info on when we officially open the doors to fans. #ForwardTogether.”

The project isn’t just a race headquarters; it’s a bigger picture that includes a 120-room hotel and 12,000 square feet of commercial office space. Cornelius developer Jake Palillo unveiled plans for this mixed-use project at a recent Town Board meeting. While he didn’t drop names, insider sources have confirmed the dynamic duo behind it – the legendary Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin.

And it’s not just about the new headquarters. Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin have their game plan set for the season ahead, ready to make some waves in the racing world.
