Denny Hamlin won NASCAR’s first Wednesday race since 1984 when downpour halted the occasion with 20 laps staying at Darlington Raceway. Hamlin was wearing a mask that looks like his actual smile, enjoyed a silent celebration in the rain. As he marched to Victory Lane under a large black umbrella.
Hamlin talks about his mask with the media. He said, “I got my happy face on. Made sure I brought it with me,”. He revealed that he also had a mask made with a “sad face” but brought only the smiling mask to the track he counts among his favorites.

The Daytona 500 champ was out front however out of new tires and attempting to hold tight when he got unintended assistance from Joe Gibbs Racing partner Kyle Busch. The prevailing Cup champion caused Chase Elliott to crash eight laps prior to draw out the alert.
It was a 1-2 completion for Joe Gibbs Racing and Toyota. Hamlin has won multiple times at Darlington and has two successes this season.
