Ahed of the final restart, we hear Daniels over the radio saying, “remember the #16 car is not playoff eligible. So I don’t know if he’s do anything crazy desperate.”
“The #34, a win here is gonna make or break his season.”
In a nutshell, Daniels was warning Larson to be careful about Michael McDowell in the #34 car, since he was eligible for a playoff spot.
He also told the Hendrick Motorsports driver not to concentrate on AJ Allmendinger in the #16 car, who had no chance of being in the playoffs.
Larson ended up winning the race at Watkins Glen, much to the dismay of his teammate, Chase Elliott.
