This weekend at Road America, Corey LaJoie will compete with a new sponsor. To be precise, the Spire Motorsports driver is linking up with Built Bar and unveiled a new livery. Of course, he wanted to promote the brand and his new livery, and LaJoie went all out. In a video clip inspired by the Mel Gibson starrer Braveheart, the driver was at his hilarious best.

In a parody of Gibson’s famous monologue he said, “Sons of Spire, I am Corey LaJoie. [But Corey LaJoie is seven feet tall]. Yes I’ve heard, heard he passes cars by the hundreds. If he were here, he’d consume the rest of the field by shooting Built Bars out of his a**. I am Corey LaJoie. You came to race as free men, and free men you are. What will you do with that freedom? Race and you may die. Run and you may live, at least for a while. Lying in your bed many years from now, would you be willing to trade it all for the one chance? One chance to tell our enemies, they may take our lives, but they will never take our freedom!

How has Corey LaJoie performed in 2022?

Admittedly, the driver has endured an up and down season. His best finish so far was a fine 5th place at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. However, that has been the only Top 5 or even Top 10 finish in the 2022 NASCAR Cup season. Otherwise, he has mostly lingered in the Top 20 or even lower. Championship-wise, he is situated only above Cody Ware and below Brad Keselowski, at least among the full-time drivers.

In all, he definitely needs to improve his performance and try and finish higher up the order. In his career, he has only amassed five Top 10 finishes, two of which came for Spire Motorsports. Unlike Braveheart’s William Wallace, Corey LaJoie is not looking for freedom; he is searching for redemption.
