The 2019 Bank of America Roval 400 concluded with Chase Elliott emerging victorious over Alex Bowman and Kevin Harvick. Truthfully, Elliott endured a fairly adventurous race, starting with an early crash at the Charlotte Roval.

Apparently, he out-braked himself and went nose-first into the tire barrier. Fortunately, his car was still in working condition, but he dropped well down the order. Elliott managed to extricate himself and continue racing.

The incident took place just after a restart, where he carried too much speed into the corner and braked too late.

However, he never gave up the fight and only saw this crash as a minor setback. To be precise, he charged up the order until he finally retook the lead in the closing laps of the race.

Chase Elliott got his revenge on the track

He went on to win the race and decided to show off a little; he went straight to the same corner that caught him out and did a burnout. However, the drama was not over yet, because when he jumped out of the #9 car, it proceeded to roll backward and hit the inside wall. By this stage, it did not really matter, as the race was already done with.

Fast-forward to 12 months later, and Chase Elliott will be hoping to grab another win. If he does bag a victory, it would guarantee his berth in the Round of 8. In terms of the starting grid, Elliott is set to start from 2nd handing him the perfect opportunity to leapfrog pole man Denny Hamlin.

Last year, Elliott was utterly dominant, in spite of the crash, and was able to scythe his way up the order quickly. If Elliott does manage to secure a win, he will hope that he does not crash like last year. Even if he did enjoy carving his way through the field, once was quite enough.
