NASCAR returned to Talladega Superspeedway last week for the tenth round of the season. This has been the first visit of the Cup Series in 2022. However, the return for Bubba Wallace at Talladega didn’t go as planned.

Bubba got himself into a couple of crashes during the race at the 2.66-mile track. Wallace Jr won the 2021 October race at the venue and had high hope of repeating the feat here again. After a brilliant first stage performance, fans started anticipating the same.

Bubba was looking for a huge point haul at Talladega, if not the win. However, his last-lap crash with Hendrick Motorsports’ William Byron and teammate Kurt Busch ended his hope for the same. After the crash, Wallace Jr conveyed on the radio to his spotter Freddie Kraft, “I don’t know if I can take anymore f****** hits like that.”

How did the race go for Bubba Wallace at Talladega Superspeedway?

Bubba Wallace started the Talladega race from 9th place, ahead of Tyler Reddick of Richard Childress Racing. Despite starting from behind the 23XI driver managed to see himself win the stage one ahead of Kyle Larson of Hendrick Motorsports.

In stage two, Bubba pushed Joey Logano of Team Penske leaving him exposed against the barrier. Joey went against the wall which led to a multi-car crash. The race carried on and there was no crash involving Bubba until the last lap.

Darrell was in 8th place as the drivers pushed in for the final lap. William Byron of Hendrick Motorsports came real close to Bubba and had a slight shunt at him. Meanwhile, the 23XI driver managed to keep his control until he got hit by Kurt Busch. The teammate of Bubba at 23XI racing hit the wall after Kyle Larson triggered the wreck. Busch then hit back at the number 23 driver that led him to crash with William Byron again.

In the end, Bubba finished in 17th place to take home 30 points, thanks to his perfectly executed first stage. As of now, Bubba Wallace stands in 21st place in the driver’s standings with 193 points, while Chase Elliott continues to lead the championship with 368 points.
