As the Christmas season approaches, drivers have been getting some much-needed time off from the stresses of racing every weekend. They spend time with their family, something they don’t get to do otherwise. And no better time than spending the holiday season with your family. Here’s Bubba Wallace and Denny Hamlin in the off-season.

While Christmas has a strong religious background to it, the old festival has evolved and developed some other connotations to it too. The biggest and most famous of those are Santa Claus and his reindeer.

Santa Claus visiting the house late at night with gifts for everyone is a story every child has heard. Children behave well in order to not be included in the ‘naughty’ list and miss out on their gifts.

The eight reindeer who help Santa deliver the gifts have names that are mentioned in an 1823 poem. The origin behind the names can be traced back to a poem by Clement C. Moore, named “A Visit from St. Nicholas” or also “’Twas the Night Before Christmas”.

Toyota Racing took the opportunity to quiz drivers and crew members about the names. Most of them hilariously failed but tried their best. Bubba’s answers were, “Dasher, Prancer, Vixen, Comet” and he was very shocked to know he was four names short!

Denny Hamlin, on the contrary, came quite close, with his “Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, and Blitzen” answer. Among other names to participate in the quiz were Kurt Busch and Ty Gibbs, both of who couldn’t get too many correct.

He said, “Yeah, this is our third annual Live To Be Different Christmas toy drive. I keep telling my sister who’s kind of overseeing the whole foundation ‘bigger and better, every year.’ Something we started out at 75 families in the first year, 150 [families] in the last year. Now we’re up to 300.”

He went on to add, “And I think the moment that gets me is when you’re packing up all the bags, kind of the night before and the trailer’s slammed full. All these bags—majority of them are gone now—so its just awesome to be able to give back, especially in the holiday season.”

“I know a lot of people are still being affected by COVID, and some other issues that are going on. So we’re here to help out with a helping hand, and be able to give back for the holiday season,” said the 23XI Racing driver.
