On 10th October, Dale Earnhardt Jr celebrated his 46th birthday. In light of that, Brad Keselowski decided to poke a bit of fun at the NASCAR Hall of Famer. The 36-year-old reminisced a highly amusing incident during the 2012 Daytona 500 race.

During a red flag period, Earnhardt Jr spotted Keselowski walking ahead of him. So, he jogged up and challenged him to an impromptu foot race. Keselowski ended up winning that race, although there was a chunk of pushing and shoving between them.

In his tweet, Keselowski snarked that if that race had taken place on Earnhardt’s birthday, he would have let him win. At the end of the day, he was happy that the former driver was always up for a little friendly competition.

What prompted the foot race between Dale Earnhardt Jr and Brad Keselowski?

During that race, there was the infamous incident where Juan Pablo Montoya crashed into a jet dryer on the track. This created a massive fireball and brought out a red flag.

With the race on hold, all the drivers parked on the back straight. While waiting, Keselowski suddenly felt the call of nature, along with Dale.

Earnhardt Jr recounted the incident and said, “So he started walking to the port-a-john, and I thought, ‘Man, that’s a good idea. Where’s this port-a-john at?’ I got to looking and saw where it was, and I kind of jogged up behind him quietly, tapped him on the shoulder, and said, ‘Race ya!’ We started running and with his long legs, man.”

The former driver thought that he could beat him, but underestimated him. Dale Earnhardt Jr confessed to pushing Keselowski and forcing him to overshoot the port-a-john.

When he stepped inside to do his business, he actually had to catch his breath first before relieving himself. Drivers normally do not have toilet issues, as they constantly sweat during the race. So, the chances of soiling themselves inside the car are rare, unless they are unwell.

Fast-forward to 2020, and Keselowski is set to race at the Charlotte Roval, while Dale Earnhardt Jr is enjoying retirement.
