It is widely acknowledged in NASCAR circles that Dale Earnhardt is a legend. However, that does not stop Dale Earnhardt Jr from worrying that his father’s legacy won’t stand the test of time. The former Hendrick Motorsports driver recently aired his concerns to SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
“My biggest fear was that, one day people are going to forget what kind of impact he had on the sport. What was his value. I was really scared that eventually, enough time was going to pass.
“People would kind of just move on, credit him or remember him for what he was,” said Dale Jr,

This is why he is surprised that people still perceive him in the same way as they did all those years ago. They all remembered his impact and influence, and none of it diminished at all.
Obviously, Dale Jr appreciates it and is trying his best to keep his legacy intact. At the end of the day, he wants people to know that he was one of the reasons behind the sport’s success.

Dale Earnhardt Jr is proud of his father’s legacy
As a seven-time Cup champion, Dale Sr had more than proven himself. Admittedly, Dale Jr may have also been under a bit of pressure to live up to his father’s legacy, which could’ve ended up being harmful to his career.

Despite that, the former driver has since gone on to establish his own path to glory in the sport. Although he has never won a Cup Series title, there was no denying that he was a chip off the old block.

Now, Dale Earnhardt Jr is doing very well for himself away from the NASCAR arena. However, he is still somewhat involved with his commentary duties and his Xfinity Series team.
